Effect of Nitrogen-Load Condition on Hydrogen Production and Bacterial Community in Continuous Anaerobic Hydrogen Fermentation Process Yasunori Kawagoshi *+ / Masaharu Nakao* / Naoe Hino* / Tomonori Iwasa* / Kenji Furukawa* Abstract : Effect of nitrogen-load condition on hydrogen (H2) production and bacterial community in a continuous anaerobic hydrogen fermentation were investigated. The slight H... condition was not suitable for hydrogen production, the lactic acid concentration was increased and also lactic acid bacteria were definitely detected, which suggested that the competition between hydrogen fermentator and lactic acid producer was occurred. These results demonstrated that the nitrogen-load condition affect on the H2 productivity through the change of bacterial community in anaerobic hydrogen fermentation. bacterial fermentation. Many hyaluronan products are commercially available worldwide. Several clinical studies of human patients with chronic osteoarthritis conducted using placebos and other drugs have demonstrated the beneficial effects of intra-articular injection of hyaluronic acid [2,6,7,14, 15,20,32]. Some studies have also reported beneficial effects of hyaluronan in cases of canine... Thirty-one dogs with patellar luxation (grades 2 and 3) were categorized into three groups. Group 1 (G.1; n = 12) had sodium hyaluronate (SHA) intra-articularly injected into the stifle joint that received surgery. Group 2 (G.2; n = 10) received SHA twice: first after surgery and then 1 week later. Group 3 (G.3; n = 9) served as a control, without injection. Blood was collected before injection and then once a week for 4 weeks after injection for evaluation of chondroitin sulfate (CS-WF6) and... -

PPO during fermentation. Among these compounds, theaflavin-3,3’-digallate was previously found to prevent melanogenesis more efficiently than EC, ECG, EGC, EGCG, and KA in mouse B16 melanoma cells while the other theaflavins had no significant anti-melanogenic effect [36]. Therefore, it is believed that the depigmentation effects of CSWEs can be augmented by fermentation, and the potential... anti-melanogenic activity of black (fermented) tea was higher than that of a predominant tea catecholamine, epigallocatechin gallate. CSWEs, especially black tea extract, decreased tyrosinase protein levels in a concentration-dependent manner. These results suggest that the anti-melanogenic effect of CSWEs is mediated by a decrease in both tyrosinase activity and protein expression, and may be augmented by fermentation. Thus, CSWEs could be useful skin-whitening agents in the cosmetic industry. -

cows since ruminal fermentation occurs in these animals, and data on the influence of nutrient intake during the peripartal period on IGF-I concentrations are conflicting [28,29,23]. Nevertheless, the finding of very low IGF-I mRNA expression but not corresponding low GHR1A mRNA expression has led to the speculation that post-receptor signaling might be negatively regulated in cows with low... Cows with different Insulin-like Growth Factor-I (IGF-I) concentrations showed comparable expression levels of hepatic growth hormone receptor (GHR). Suppressor of cytokine signaling 2 (SOCS2), could be responsible for additional inhibition of the GHR signal cascade. The aims were to monitor cows with high or low antepartal IGF-I concentrations (IGF-I or IGF-I), evaluate the interrelationships of endocrine endpoints, and measure hepatic SOCS2 expression. Dairy cows (n = 20) were selected (240 to... -

identity of the effective materials, peroxisomal proliferation by green tea extract is considered to be mediated through the activation of PPARα. Generally, black tea is derived as a result of full fermentation of the leaves of green tea. The concentration of its ingredients is different from that of green tea [3]. For example, EGCG, the best known ingredient, is largely degraded by fermentation.... component of green tea leaves. This would account for the increase in the number of peroxisomes and the activity of peroxisomal enzymes previously reported. However, black tea, a fully fermented product, had a stronger effect than oolong tea extract. These results also suggest, that in addition to epigallocatechin gallate, green tea leaves may possess some active chemicals newly produced as a result of the fermentation process, which act on PPARalpha like other peroxisome proliferators. -

which is qualified to be called as “the last defender against terminal cancer” [4]. At present, there has been great progress in the research on obtaining paclitaxel through biosynthesis, fungal fermentation, plant tissue and cell culture and other technical methods [5]. Resveratrol is a non-flavanoids polyphenolic compound containing stilbene structure, which, according to relevant Origin... The aim of this study was to determine the raising anticancer effects of resveratrol (Res) on paclitaxel (PA) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell line A549. The 10 µg/ml of Res had no effect on human fetal lung fibroblast MRC-5 cells or on A549 cancer cells and the 5 or 10 µg/ml of PA also had no effect on MRC-5 normal cells. PA-L (5 µg/ml) and PA-H (10 µg/ml) had the growth inhibitory effects in NSCLC cell line A549, and Res increased these growth inhibitory... -

with S. padanus PMS-702 fermentation broth were developed in this study and were shown to further enhance the biocontrol efficacy for the rice sheath blight disease. The production of antibiotics and enzymes by Strep- tomyces spp. has been demonstrated to be affected by the compositions of the fermentation media (Singh et al., 2017). Addition of tryptophan in the culture media resulted in an... Rice sheath blight (ShB), caused by Rhizoctonia solani Kühn AG1-IA, is one of the destructive rice diseases worldwide. The aims of this study were to develop bio- control strategies focusing on field sanitation and foliar application with a biocontrol agent for ShB manage- ment. Streptomyces padanus PMS-702 showed a great antagonistic activity against R. solani. Fungichromin produced by S. padanus PMS-702, at 3.07 mg/l inhib- ited 50% mycelial growth, caused leakage of cytoplasm, and... -
