MTT assay showed that resveratrol decreased cell viability. Fluorescence-activated cell-sorter analysis showed that resveratrol induced G1 cell cycle arrest without increasing the sub-G1 phase cell population. Therefore, we evaluated its effect on regulation of cyclin D1, which is critically involved in G1/S transition. Resveratrol lowered cyclin D1 transcription. Western blot... -

I, induced by BFR, which increased retrograde flow in working muscle [71]. Although endothelial function in the vasculature is important for understanding the mech- anisms of alterations in function following BFR+LIRE, there are limited studies and inconsistent results investigating this phenomenon. Therefore, further studies are warranted to understand how BFR+LIRE affects vascular function.... is required. Recently, blood flow restriction (BFR) with low intensity resistance exercise (LIRE) has been used for such special populations to improve their function and exercise capacity. Although BFR+LIRE has been intensively studied for a decade, a comprehensive review detailing the effects of BFR+LIRE on both skeletal muscle and vascular function is not available. Therefore, the purpose of this review is to discuss previous studies documenting the effects of BFR+LIRE on hormonal and... -

a RyR blocker. KCl-induced elevations in [Ca 2+]i were reduced by pretreatment with ruthenium red, as well as by depletion of internal Ca 2+ stores using cyclopiazonic acid (CPA) or caffeine. Caffeine-induced Ca 2+ internal stores were depleted by carbamylcholine (CCh) or CPA. In permeabilized INS-1 cells, Ca 2+ release from internal stores was activated by caffeine, Ca 2+, or ryanodine.... RyR blocker. KCl-induced elevations in [Ca2+]i were reduced by pretreatment with ruthenium red, as well as by depletion of internal Ca2+ stores using cyclopiazonic acid (CPA) or caffeine. Caffeine-induced Ca2+ mobilization ceased after the internal stores were depleted by carbamylcholine (CCh) or CPA. In permeabilized INS-1 cells, Ca2+ release from internal stores was activated by caffeine, Ca2+, or ryanodine. Furthermore, ruthenium red completely blocked the CICR response in permeabilized... -

1 α,25(OH)2D 3- induced osteoclastogenesis, suppressing Runx2 and RANKL expression due to the TonEBP over- expression in osteoblastic cells. Key Words: Hyperosmotic stimulus, TonEBP, Osteoblast, RANKL, Runx2 INTRODUCTION Bone is metabolically active tissue that is capable of adapting its structure to the mechanical load and repairing structural damage through the process of remodeling. Bone... ligand (RANKL) and Runx2 expressions were down-regulated in response to 1Ձ,25(OH)2D3. Knockdown of Runx2 inhibited 1Ձ,25(OH)2D3-induced RANKL expression in osteoblastic cells. Finally, the hyperosmotic stimulus induced the overexpression of TonEBP in osteoblastic cells. These results suggest that hyperosmolarity leads to the down-regulation of 1Ձ,25(OH)2D3- induced osteoclastogenesis, suppressing Runx2 and RANKL expression due to the TonEBP overexpression in osteoblastic cells. -

in the ACS rats (Fig. 4A) indicates that volume over- load adequately increased diastolic wall stress and stretch- ed left ventricular end diastolic length. On the other hand, there is a possibility that brief volume overload might cause changes in myocardial blood flow and induce transient ischemic stress in the heart. In the present study, myocardial lactate content at baseline and after 30... stretch-induced cardioprotection (SIC). Intraventricular balloon and aorto-caval shunt (ACS) were used to stretch rat hearts ex vivo and in vivo, respectively. Stretch preconditioning reduced myocardial infarct induced by ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) and improved post-ischemic functional recovery. Phosphorylation of AMPK and its downstream substrate, acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) were increased by mechanical stretch and ACC phosphorylation was completely blocked by the AMPK inhibitor, Compound C.... -

The present study was undertaken to examine if endogenous nitric oxide is partly responsible for the high calcium induced vasorelaxation in vitro. Isolated porcine coronary arterial rings were suspended in the tissue chamber and their changes in isometric tension were recorded. KCI little affected the vascular tension in the calcium free media, but subsequent addition of cumulative doses of CaCl3 from 1 to 40 mM caused a contraction followed by complete relaxation. The maximum tension was noted... -

In this study, an experiment was carried out to observe the shear induced orientation of the MWCNT in the polymer matrix using a very simple melt flow indexer with various loads. The compression-molded, should be eliminated. MWCNT/PC nanocomposite sample exhibited lower percolation thresholds (at 0.8 vol%) and higher... -
