was shown that hexanal based nanoformulation treated banana fruits exhibited extra firmness, shininess, increased total soluble solids, sugar levels indicating improved quality during stor- age (Venkatachalam et al., 2018) as observed in the current study. The primary mechanism of action of hexanal on C. gloeosporioides and L. theobromae is not fully under- stood. Based on our evidence it is... Hexanal, a C-6 aldehyde has been implicated to have antimicrobial properties. Hence, this study was con- ducted to determine the antifungal activities of hexanal vapor against major postharvest pathogens of banana viz., Colletotrichum gloeosporioides and Lasiodiplodia theobromae. The pathogens were cultured in vitro and exposed to hexanal vapor at 600, 800, 1,000 and 1,200 ppm. Mycelial growth of both fungal pathogens were inhibited completely at 800 ppm and the incidence of anthracnose and... -

The ratio of flesh weight to total fruit weight was higher for the healthy fruit (77.3 ± 1.7%) than for the infected fruit (70.7 ± 0.6) and peel puffing was more severe in the infected fruit (2.9 ± 0.4 mm) than in the healthy fruit (0.9 ± 0.2 mm). The soluble solids content in infected citrus fruits was less values than the healthy fruit by 0.5-1.5 °Brix. These findings reveal that CiMV infection on citrus trees reduces the fruit quality of citrus. -

Compared with the control, the fruit of all other treatments showed better retention of firmness (P < 0.001), but the best effect was observed in HW-Ca treated fruit (Fig. 5A). The total soluble solids (TSS) content of fruit increases during normal ripening process; thus, a lower rate-in-rise Fig. 2. Effect of hot water (HW), calcium chloride (Ca), and a combination of hot water with calcium... Anthracnose of papaya fruit caused by the fungus Colletotrichum gloeosporioides is one of the most economically important postharvest diseases. Hot water immersion (HW) and calcium chloride (Ca) treatments have been used to control papaya postharvest diseases; however, the effect of the combination HW-Ca on the pathogen growth and the development of the disease in infected papaya fruit has been scarcely studied. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the HW-Ca treatment on the in... -

Changes in fruit weight and soluble solids content of ‘Seolhyang’ strawberry by fruit setting order of the fower cluster. J. Agric. Life Sci. 46:105- 111. Matheron, M. E. and Porchas, M. 2000. Impact of azoxystrobin, dimethomorph, fluazinam, fosetyl-Al, and methalaxyl on growth, sporulation, and zoospore cyst germination of three Phytophthora spp. Plant Dis. 84:454-458. Myresiotis, C. K.,... Botrytis cinerea is a necrotrophic pathogen causing a major problem in the export and post-harvest of strawberries. Inappropriate use of fungicides leads to resistance among fungal pathogens. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the sensitivity of B. cinerea to various classes of fungicide and to determine the effectiveness of different concentrations of commonly used fungicides. We thus evaluated the effectiveness of six classes of fungicide in inhibiting the growth and development of this... -

consumer’s tastes and flavor was also changed by treatments. Total soluble solid in cherry tomato fruits was af- fected by treatment TP-H20-5 but titratable acidity was not (Fig. 1). When TP-H20-5, ZY, and untreated control were applied to strawberry plants, higher lycopene and polyphenol con- tents were achieved by TP-H20-5 (Fig. 2). Application of TP- H20-5 increased the lycopene content by... A variety of microorganisms in rhizosphere affect plant health by plant growth promotion, mitigation of abiotic stresses as well as protection from pathogen attacks. In our previous study, we selected a bacterium, Bacillus mesonae H20-5, for alleviation of salinity stress in tomato plants. In this study, we verified the effect of a liquid formulation of B. mesonae H20-5 (TP-H20-5) on fruit production and phytochemical accumulation including lycopene and polyphenol in cherry tomato and strawberry... -

a high content of GO were prepared to observed their mechanical and electrical properties. Reduced GO/PI composite flms containing 10 or 20 wt% of GO, respectively, were prepared via a conventional solution-casting method. GO was converted into a reduced form of GO (r-GO) during the imidization process. The synthesis of the polymer was confrmed by Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy. The...
