Molecular characterization of swine leukocyte antigen (SLA) genes is important for elucidating the immune responses between swine-donor and human-recipient in xenotransplantation. Examination of associations between alleles of SLA class I genes, type of pig genetic modification, porcine endogenous retrovirus (PERV) viral titer, and PERV subtypes may shed light on the nature of xenograft acceptance or rejection and the safety of xenotransplantation. No significant difference in PERV gag RNA level... -

articulus carpii and a newborn goat with a stiff leg. Necropsies of the diseased goats revealed swollen carpal joints that were twisted backwards. Arthritis was observed during microscopic examination of the carpal joints. Very low levels of eosinophil, leucocyte, and lymphocyte cell infiltration were found in the central nervous system and meninges. Serum copper levels were significantly decreased in most of the animals. All of these results led us to diagnose the animals with swayback disease. -

Allergic asthma is one of the most enduring diseases of the airway. The Thelper cells and regulatory T-cells are critically involved in inflammatory responses, mucus hypersecretion, airway remodelling and in airway hyper-responsiveness. Cigarette smoke (CS) has been found to aggravate inflammatory responses in asthma. Though currently employed drugs are effective, associated side effects demand identification and development of novel drugs with negligible or no adverse effects. Rutin,... -

Critical limb ischemia (CLI) is one of the most severe forms of peripheral artery diseases, but current treatment strategies do not guarantee complete recovery of vascular blood flow or reduce the risk of mortality. Recently, human bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been reported to have a paracrine influence on angiogenesis in several ischemic diseases. However, little evidence is available regarding optimal cell doses and injection frequencies. Thus, the authors undertook... -
