to characterize ureteral smooth muscle motility and also to study the effect of forskolin (FSK) and isoproterenol (ISO) on smooth muscle contractility in murine ureter. High K+ (50 mM) produced tonic contraction by 0.17±0.06 mN (n=19). Neuropeptide and neurotransmitters such as serotonin (5μM), histamine (20μM), and carbarchol (CCh, 10∼50μM) did not produce significant contraction. However, CCh (50μM) produced slow phasic contraction in the presence of 25 mM K+. Cyclopiazonic acid (CPA,... -

the above results, we think the second type of K+ channel is the sarcoplasmic reticulum K+ (SRK) channel. In addition, both types of channel were also incorporated into the lipids extracted from the skeletal muscle. The channel properties recorded in the bilayers termed from synthetic and extracted lipids were qualitatively similar. Our data indicate that BK and SRK channels are rich in the skeletal muscle and their properties and regulation could be effectively studied in planar lipid bilayer. -

the smooth muscle tissue, especially in the vascular smooth muscle. Much attention has been focused on the type of K-channel that is responsible for mediating the effects of KCOs. As the KCO-induced changes are antagonized by glibenclamide, an KATP (ATP-sensitive K-channel) blocker in the pancreatic β-cell, KATP was suggested to be the channel responsible. However, there also are many results in favor of other types of K-channel $(maxi-K, small conductance KCa SKATP) mediating the effects of... -

The hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus (PVN) contains two types of neurons projecting to either the rostral ventrolateral medulla (PVNRVLM) or the intermediolateral horn (IML) of the spinal cord (PVNIML). These two neuron groups are intermingled in the same subdivisions of the PVN and differentially regulate sympathetic outflow. However, electrophysiological evidence supporting such functional differences is largely lacking. Herein, we compared the electrophysiological properties of these... -

in cardiac muscle fibers. After aspirin administration, myocardial cells showed fewer pathological lesions than broilers treated with heat alone. A high positive Hsp90 signal was always detected in the nuclei of myocardial cells from broilers treated with aspirin, while in myocardial cells treated with heat alone, Hsp90 in the nuclei decreased, as did that in the cytoplasm. Aspirin induced rapid and significant synthesis of Hsp90 before and at the initial phase of heat stress, and significant... -
