Studies were conducted to determine the effects of temperature, solute potential and carbon source on the mycelial growth, sclerotia development, and apothecium production of an isolate of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. Mycelial growth rate was greatest at 25oC on potato dextrose agar (PDA) medium amended with up to 2% NaCl (ψs ≤ 1.91 MPa) and thereafter, growth rate declined. The least number of sclerotia were produced at 20oC on both PDA and malt extract agar (MEA) amended with 8% NaCl (ψs=6.62... -
Collection, Mission, Action. Bridge the Museum to the World.
Steven Engelsman 한국박물관학회 박물관학보 10 Pages
and the world? Are museums ivory towers? I find it hard to believe, celtainly here in the US. You all know your external stakeholders, don’t you, and your trustees, they do represent the outside world, don’t they? %이at has also puzzled me was that notion of bridge to ?1e world. It’s so unidirectional: from the museum to the world rather than between the two of them. Why is that so? Is there a feeling amongst museums that they will have to act now, otherwise become too isolated and obsolete? -

The Wnt signaling pathway and its key component β-catenin have critical roles in the development of diseases such as tumors in mammals. However, little has been reported about involvement of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway in canine mammary tumors (CMTs). The present study detected expression of 30 Wnt signaling pathway-related genes in CMTs; the results are potentially useful for molecular-based diagnosis of CMTs and the development of new targeted therapies. Significant upregulations of... -

Zinc has been considered as a vital constituent of proteins, including enzymes. Mobile reactive zinc (Zn2+) is the key form of zinc involved in signal transductions, which are mainly driven by its binding to proteins or the release of zinc from proteins, possibly via a redox switch. There has been growing evidence of zinc’s critical role in cell signaling, due to its flexible coordination geometry and rapid shifts in protein conformation to perform biological reactions. The importance and... -
