of MoSDR1 suggests that the gene is associated with pathogenicity and plays an important role in M. oryzae development. To understand the roles of MoSDR1, the deletion mutant ΔMosdr1 for the gene was obtained via homology-dependent gene replacement. As expected, ΔMosdr1 was nonpathogenic; moreover, the mutant displayed pleiotropic defects in conidiation, conidial germination, appressorium formation, penetration, and growth inside host tissues. These results suggest that MoSDR1 functions as a... -

is a complex and newly emerging area of research in the cross-disciplinary field of early childhood and international development. This paper is important for its contribution to the developing knowledge-base in its conceptualizations of the role of young children in the promotion of social cohesion and peaceful societies. It begins by discussing the increasingly high profile of ECD in the global advocacy for building sustainable development. The discussion presents a multidimensional... -

For several years, temperatures in the Korean peninsula have gradually increased due to climate change, resulting in a changing environment for growth of crops and vegetables. An associated consequence is that emerging species of insect vector have caused increased viral transmission. In Jeju Island, Korea, occurrences of viral disease have increased. Here, we report characterization of five newly collected turnip mosaic virus (TuMV) isolates named KBJ1, KBJ2, KBJ3, KBJ4 and KBJ5 from a survey... -
Development and Practical Use of RT-PCR for Seed-transmitted Prune dwarf virus in Quarantine
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 5 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2014, 30권 2호 8 178-182 (5 pages)
Among imported plants, seeds are the items that have many latent pathogens and are difficult to inspect. Also, they are the import and export items whose market is expected to expand. The biggest problem with seeds is viruses. Prune dwarf virus (PDV) is the virus that is commonly inspected in Prunus cerasifera, P. persica, P. armeniaca, P. mandshurica, P. cerasus, P. avium or P. serotina seeds. In this study, two RT-PCR primer sets, which can promptly and specifically diagnose plant quarantine... -

of the nematode disease development in chili pepper caused by the rootknot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita, were investigated. Out of 39 chili pepper cultivars/lines tested, six were found resistant, while 33 were susceptible to M. incognita, of which a susceptible cultivar Chilseongcho and three resistant cultivar/lines CM334, 02G132 and 03G53 with different resistance degrees were selected for microscopic studies on the disease development. Gall formation was greatly reduced in the resistant... -

Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris (Xcc), the pathogen of black rot which is the most destructive disease of Brassica vegetables throughout the world. Here, we reported two novel sequence-characterized amplified region (SCAR) markers (i.e., XccR6-60 and XccR6-67) for the detection of Xcc race 6 via re-alignment of the complete genome sequences of Xcc races/ strains/pathovars. The specificity of SCAR primer sets was verified by mean of PCR amplification using the genomic DNA template of Xcc... -

The Hong Kong Early Child Development Scale (HKECDS) is a tool for assessing holistic early child development in preschoolers aged from three to six years. The original version of the scale, HKECDS, was updated in 2019 (HKECDS-2) to reflect the contemporary context and local curricular expectations. Children (n = 144) from three kindergartens in Hong Kong completed the HKECDS-2 in individual sessions. Rasch model analysis and expert discussions resulted in a short version of the scale (HKECDS-3)... -

한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 10 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2016, 32권 4호 4 311-320 (10 pages)
Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. glycines (Xag ) is a necrotrophic bacterial pathogen of the soybean that causes bacterial pustules and is a nonhost pathogen of the chili pepper. In the current study, chili pepper fruit wound inoculated in planta with Xag 8ra formed necrotic lesions on the fruit surface and induced several structural and chemical barriers systemically in the fruit tissue. The initial defense response included programmed cell death of necrotizing and necrotized cells, which was... -

Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) expressing neurons are distributed widely throughout the central and peripheral nervous systems. Due to its distribution and pharmacological studies, CGRP has been implicated to be involved in anxiety, fear and depression. In this study, αCGRP-knockout mice were used to assess the consequences of removing this neuropeptide to the mice behaviors. αCGRP-knockout mice performed equally as well as wild type mice in the light-dark transition test and in the... -

Taxifolin glycoside is a new drug candidate for the treatment of atopic dermatitis (AD). Many drugs cause side effects such as long QT syndrome by blocking the human ether-a-go-go related gene (hERG) K+ channels. To determine whether taxifolin glycoside would block hERG K+ channels, we recorded hERG K+ currents using a whole-cell patch clamp technique. We found that taxifolin glycoside directly blocked hERG K+ current in a concentration-dependent manner (EC50=9.6±0.7ՌM). The activation... -
Pathological Interrelations of Soil-Borne Diseases in Cucurbits Caused by Fusarium Species and Meloidogyne incognita

Pathological interrelations of two soil-borne diseases in cucurbits (watermelon, oriental melon, shintosa and cucumber) caused by Fusarium isolates (FI) and the root-knot nematode (RKN), Meloidogyne incognita were characterized by the fusarium disease severity index (DI), RKN gall index (GI) and eggmass index (EI) in inoculation tests using FI and RKN. Virulence of FI as determined by DI at 4 weeks after inoculation was mostly in the higher order of Fusarium proliferatum F6, F5 and Fusarium... -

VFAE (Visual Form Aesthetic Education) Pedagogy Project is based on visual form scanning skills to develop curriculum model. 6 visual formal elements act as core lesson themes; they are proportion, color, texture, composition, structure, and construction. They also play as scanning tools for students to explore art world and daily life. From October of 2013 to June of 2015, 148 high school art teachers from nationwide school districts participated in this18 weeks, 36 teaching hours pilot study.... -

Young children are increasingly surrounded by a variety of technologies including television, computers, iPads, and mobile phones. This small qualitative study explored how Chinese immigrant families living in Australia viewed their children’s use of technology at home. Six parents and three grandparents representing nine different families with children aged three to six years were interviewed. Data were analysed using Rogoff’s (2003) personal, interpersonal and cultural-institutional planes... -

histone acetylation and deacetylation is one of the key components in epigenetic regulation of transcription. Here we report the requirement of Mo- HDA1-mediated histone deacetylation during asexual development and pathogenesis for the rice blast fungus, Magnaporthe oryzae. Structural similarity and phylogenetic analysis suggested that MoHDA1 is an ortholog of Saccharomyces cerevisiae Hda1, which is a representative member of class II histone deacetylases. Targeted deletion of MoHDA1 caused a... -

modifications were found with proliferation of fungal hyphae in SI. Sclerenchyma-like cells with thickened cell walls were proliferated around the wounding sites, which were partially dissolved by DWI, probably leading to some disease development. All of these results suggest that the decline of the anthracnose disease in pepper fruit by the delayed inoculations may be derived from the structural modifications related to the healing processes of the previous wound inflicted on the tissues. -

To increase the benefit of a pre/post test design, the validity and reliability of the research should be carefully considered, since a pre/post test design require tests to be conducted multiple times. The current study developed a reading fluency test with a pre/post test design that aimed to measure the effect of the intervention on English learners. The developed reading fluency test was piloted twice and subsequently revised according to the pilot test results. According to the results of...
