The Role of Professional Development in Improving Quality and Supporting Child Outcomes in Early Education and Care
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 20 Pages
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2019, Vol.13 No.2 4 49-68 (20 pages)
It is well established in the literature that high quality ECEC is important for children’s outcomes, and that variations in quality can be explained, to a large extent, by variations in educator pedagogy and practice. We argue for a better understanding of how ECEC educators and services can achieve (and be supported to optimise) children’s development and learning outcomes. This paper argues for more rigorous PD designs, considered evidence-based content and delivery that are embedded within... -
The Power of Harmony: Insights from a Korean Children’s Community-Based Chorus

Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2016, Vol.10 No.1 2 21-43 (23 pages)
This study examines a Korean children’s community-based chorus within the US context. Through an in-depth examination of group musical activities and interviews of Korean early childhood educators and Korean immigrant parents within the sociocultural framework, this study makes visible the meanings of engaging in a community-based children’s musical experience. Findings indicate that both groups of early childhood educators and Korean parents found that engaging in a community-based chorus... -

The Journal of Education 18 Pages
The Journal of Education 2020, Vol.3 No.2 5 77-94 (18 pages)
Until the 2000s, media literacy evolved while centering around the application of critical thinking of contents such as TV programs and the exchanges on social media. However, unlike television, messages on social media are inseparable from the infrastructure that supports them, as the nature of the infrastructure frames the contents and the communication phenomenon. When Google, Apple, Facebook, and Amazon are so visible in our daily lives, we believe it is necessary to examine and promote... -
