linear sweep was recorded in an acidic solution to compare the ORR catalytic activities values for the use in the PEMFC system. The dual transition metal promotion improved the ORR activity compared with the single transition metal promotion, due to the increase in the quaternary nitrogen species from the structural change by the dual metals. The effect of different ratio of the dual metals into the N doped carbon were examined to evaluate the activities of the oxygen reduction reaction. -

compared to disease progress by the wild type and the number of the rpfE-deficient mutant strain was lower than that of the wild type in the early phase of infection in the inoculated rice leaf. The rpfE mutant strain was unable to utilize sucrose or xylose as carbon sources efficiently in culture. The mutation in rpfE, however, did not affect DSF synthesis. Our results suggest that the rpfE gene regulates the virulence of Xoo under different nutrient conditions without change of DSF production. -

suggested the substitution of titanium in TiO₂ by carbon. Instead of using calcination, PAN pyrolysis was used to control the carbon content, and the mesoporosity was tailored by the applied temperature. The supported TiO₂ nanocrystals prepared by pyrolysis at 300, 350, and 400ºC for 3 h on a stainless steel mesh were actual supported carbon doped TiO₂ nanocrystals. Thus, PAN/DMF/TiCl₄ offers a facile, robust sol-gel related route for preparing supported carbon doped TiO₂ nanocomposites. -

Exceptional properties and a one dimensional structure make carbon nanotubes (CNTs) a promising candidate for future applications in the electronic industry [1-3]. Because of their smaller dimensions and higher conductivity as compared to copper, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) may increase the bandwidth density of global interconnects [4]. They demonstrate charge carrier mean free paths between 500 nm and 10 μm as compared to 40 nm in metals. CNTs can carry exceptionally high current... -

removal of chromium from tannery wastewater by electrosorption on carbon prepared from lignocellulosic natural residue "peach stones' thermally treated. The followed steps for obtaining coal in chronological order were: cleaning, drying, crushing and finally its carbonization at 900°C. The characterization of the carbon material resulted in properties comparable to those of many coals industrially manufactured. The study of the dynamic adsorption of chromium on the obtained material resulted in... -

in the presence of acid catalysts in low temperature ranges of 100°C?200°C. In the case of sucrose as a carbon source, sulfuric acid (H2SO4) is typically used as an acid catalyst for the dehydration and subsequent oligomerization of the carbon precursor. This is very important for preventing the infiltrated carbon precursors from draining outside the mesopores of the silica templates before the carbonization. The oligomeric carbon species are then carbonized at high temperature above 600°C. -

Carbon/carbon (C/C) composites are acknowledged as high performance materials because of their good mechanical properties such as wear resistance, even at the higher temperature, due to their low thermal expansion [1-5]. Their hardness and light weight in addition to their superior mechanical properties at high temperature make C/C composites the best material to make brakes for aircrafts and other high weight vehicles. Accordingly, a number of studies have been conducted on the performance of... -

A direct oxyfluorination on CF surfaces was applied to increase the interfacial strength between the CFs and MAPP matrix. The mechanical properties of the CFs/MAPP composites are likely to be different in terms of MA content. Surface characteristics were observed by scanning electron microscope, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and single fiber contact angle method. The mechanical properties of the... -

sulfate functional groups introduced during the manufacturing process. In addition, pyrolyzed CNPs (CCNPs) showed more effective chemical activation behavior compared with MCC-induced carbonaceous materials. The activated CCNPs exhibited a microporous carbon structure with a high surface area of 1310.6 m2/g and numerous oxygen heteroatoms. The results of this study show the effects of morphology and the surface properties of cellulose-based nanomaterials on pyrolysis and the activation process.
