The failure of the action potential at the end-plate membrane to reach the sodium equilibrium potential is due to the stimulating action of acetylcholine on Na+-K+ pump. Hernia recurred in three calves treated with open herniorrhaphy within 2 weeks of the procedure, with swelling in situ and muscular weakness at the site of operation.
