Jia Hao, Chan-Hyung Kim, Tae-Sun Ha, Hee-Yul Ahn 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 9 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2007, 제 8권 제 2호 4 121-129 (9 pages)
Pressure overload diseases, such as valvular stenosis and systemic hypertension, manifest morphologically in patients as cardiac concentric hypertrophy. Prevention of cardiac remodeling due to increased pressure overload is important to reduce morbidity and mortality. Epigallocatechin-3 gallate (EGCG) is a major bioactive polyphenol present in green tea which has been found to be a nitric oxide-mediated vasorelaxant and to be cardioprotective in myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury. Therefore,... -

reduced c-Fos protein expression than that in the BL group, and the SAD+BL group showed less expression than that in the SAD group. These results suggest that the vestibular system cooperates with baroreceptors to maintain arterial pressure during hypotension but that baroreceptors regulate arterial pressure during both hypotension and hypertension. Additionally, afferent signals for maintaining blood pressure from the vestibular end organs and the baroreceptors may be integrated in the RVLM. -

Blocking or regulating K+ channels is important for investigating neuronal functions in mammalian brains, because voltage-dependent K+ channels (Kv channels) play roles to regulate membrane excitabilities for synaptic and somatic processings in neurons. Although a number of toxins and chemicals are useful to change gating properties of Kv channels, specific effects of each toxin on a particular Kv subunit have not been sufficiently demonstrated in neurons yet. In this study, we tested... -

The blood pressure (BP) is regulated by the nervous system and humoral factors, such as renin- angiotensin system, vasopressin and others. In the present study, we examined the central effects of glutamate and GABA on the cardiovascular regulation by injection of these substances into the lateral ventricle and also investigated the relationship between these central effects and the action of angiotensin II (Ang). Male Sprague Dawley rats, 350∼400 g, were anesthetized with urethane and... -

pA/pF in normotensive cell and hypertensive cell respectively. 4-AP-sensitive K current was also smaller in hypertensive cell (4.28⁑0.38 pA/pF) than in normotensive cell (7.65⁑0.52 pA/pF). The values of half activation voltage (V1/2) and slope factor (k1) as well as the values of half inactivation voltage (V1/2) and slope factor (k1) were virtually similar between GBH and NTR. These results suggest that the decrease of 4-AP-sensitive K current contributes to a... -

대한생리학회 대한생리학회지 1993, 제 27권 제 1호 4 37-50 (14 pages)
Ventilatory responses to inhaled CO2 were measured during continuous negative pressure breathing (CNPB) in awake dogs. End expiratory lung volume (EELV) decreased linearly with pressure level during CNPB (correlation coefficient= 0.81, p<0.005) during air breathing. When CNPB was applied during 5% CO2 inhalation, the decrease in EELV was not significantly different (p<0.5) from that during air breathing. As a result of a lowered EELV, tidal volume (VT) significantly decreased by 22% and... -

ATP-sensitive K+ channels (KATP) are major component of preventing ischemia-reperfusion injury. However, there is little information regarding to the expressional difference of KATP and its function between left and right ventricles. In this study, we measured the lactate dehydrogenase release of rabbit heart slices in vitro and determined the difference of the KATP expression at the both ventricles by measuring the level of KATP-forming Kir6.2 (OcKir6.2) mRNA using in situ hybridization. The... -

with inhibitor of phospholipase (PLC), inositol triphosphate (IP3) receptor, or nonspecific protein kinase C (PKC). The potency of Ang-(4-8) to inhibit ANP secretion was similar to Ang II. However, Ang-(4-8) 10 μM caused an increased mean arterial pressure which was similar to that by 1 nM Ang II. Therefore, we suggest that Ang-(4-8) suppresses high stretch-induced ANP secretion through the AT1R and PLC/IP3/PKC pathway. Ang-(4-8) is a biologically active peptide which functions as an inhibition... -

In anesthetized rabbits met-enkephalin decreased blood pressure and heart rate, which closely paralleled a reduction in sympathetic discharge. Naloxone, but not naloxone methobromide, antagonized these effects, which suggests a central site of action of met-enkephalin. A number of autonomic agents, particularly adrenergic α-and, β-agonists and antagonists modify the cardiovascular actions of met-enkephalin. Experiments in reserpine-treated and adrenalectomized rats provide no evidence of... -

vessels. However, the endothelium-dependent relaxation to acetylcholine and nitroprusside-induced relaxation showed significant differences between the high pressure-exposed and the low pressure-exposed subclavian arteries. From the above results, we suggest that the contractility of vascular smooth muscle is unchanged by the elevated pressure per se. However, the endothelium-dependent relaxation to acetylcholine and the nitroprusside-induced relaxation are attenuated by pressure. -
