액정 디스플레이 소자의 디렉터 내에서 결점을 모델링 할 수 있는 fast Q-텐서법을 이용하여 불균일한 표면에서 발생할 수 있는 결점의 발생과 움직임에 대한 모델링을 하였다. 결점을 모델링하기 위하여 $1{mu}m$ 단차의 전극을 가진 수직배향셀을 이용하였다. 모델링을 통하여 단차에서 발생하는 액정 디렉터 내에서의 결점의 발생과 결점선을 확인할 수 있었으며 이러한 결과는 실험을 통하여 확인하였다. -

Si, SiO2, TiN, W2N 기판 위에 (hfac)Cu(VTMS) 유기금속 전구체로 증착된 구리 핵을 조사하였다. 증착온도가 증가함에 따라, 기판 종류에 상관없이 180。C에서 구리 핵이 클러스터링으로 성장하는 메커니즘을 관찰하였다. 또한, HF용액으로 세척한 TiN 과 SiO2가 공존하는 기판에서 구리 핵의 선택성이 향상됨을 관찰하였다. TiN을 H2O2로 세척한 후 Dimethyldichlorosilane 처리했을 때 표면이 passivation됨을 확인하였다. -
본 해설에서는 nucleation현상의 한 예로 과포화상태에 있는 증기 (vapor)의 응축과 정(condensation)을 중심으로 설명하고자 한다. 제 2절에서는 nucleation 현상의 예와 그 응용에 대해서 설명하기로 하고 제 3절에서는 열역학적인 면에서 제 4절은 운동론적인 면에서 제 5절은 nucleation theory의 문제점에 관해 고찰해 보려 한다.
