of fossil fuels. To resolve this problem, various studies on efficient energy storage devices have been undertaken. Electronic technologies are increasingly used in electronic products and systems, and they require effective energy storage [1,2]. Supercapacitors are energy storage devices with high power density and long cycle life, and have been spotlighted in recent years because of their promising applications in portable devices, electric vehicles, transportation systems, digital devices. -
Electrochemical determination of chloramphenicol using a glassy carbon electrode modified with dendrite-like Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles
Krishnan Giribabu, Sung-Chan Jang, Yuvaraj Haldorai, Muruganantham Rethinasabapathy, Seo Yeong Oh, Arunkumar Rengaraj, Young-Kyu Han 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 10 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.23 6 38-47 (10 pages)
In this study, magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles were electrochemically synthesized in an aqueous electrolyte at a given potential of -1.3 V for 180 s. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that dendrite-like Fe3O4 nanoparticles with a mean size of < 80 nm were electrodeposited on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The Fe3O4/GCE was utilized for sensing chloramphenicol (CAP) by cyclic voltammetry and square wave voltammetry. A reduction peak of CAP at the Fe3O4/GCE was observed at 0.62 V, whereas... -
Mechanical and electrical properties of cement paste incorporated with pitch-based carbon fiber
Inkyu Rhee, Jin Hee Kim, Sang Hee Park, Sungho Lee, Bong Ryeul Ryu, Yoong Ahm Kim 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 8 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.23 4 22-29 (8 pages)
The compressive strength and electrical resistance of pitch-based carbon fiber (CF) in cementitious materials are explored to determine the feasibility of its use as a functional material in construction. The most widely used CFs are manufactured from polyacrylonitrile (PAN-based CF). Alternatively, short CFs are obtained in an economical way using pitch as a precursor in a melt-blown process (pitch-based CF), which is cheaper and more eco-friendly method because this pitch-based CF is basically... -
Fabrication of nitrogen doped ordered mesoporous carbon derived from glucosamine with hybrid capacitive behaviors
Deyi Zhang, Mei Han, Yubing Li, Bing Wang, Yi Wang, Kunjie Wang, Huixia Feng 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 8 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.23 2 9-16 (8 pages)
The specific capacitance of the reported materials reached up to 328 F g?1, which was 2.1 times higher than that of pristine CMK-3. The capacitance retention rate was found to be higher than 87.9% after 1000 charge/discharge cycles. The supplementary pseudocapacitance as well as the enhanced wettability and conductivity due to the incorporation of nitrogen heteroatoms within the carbon matrixes were found to be responsible for the excellent capacitive performance of the reported NOMC materials. -

formula LiC6, via the intercalation of lithium ions at 0.1 V vs. Li+/Li, corresponding to a capacity of ~372 mAh g?1 [8,9]. The favorable energy density and reversible charge/discharge cycles of graphite have contributed to the commercial success of conventional LIBs. Nevertheless, the new demands of state-of-the art applications require better energy and power characteristics, requiring the development of alternative anode materials that can surpass the electrochemical performance of graphite. -
Formation of nanojoints between carbon nanotubes and copper nanoparticles
Jagjiwan Mittal, Kwang Lung Lin 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 7 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.21 11 86-92 (7 pages)
nanotubes (CNTs) a promising candidate for future applications in the electronic industry [1-3]. Because of their smaller dimensions and higher conductivity as compared to copper, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) may increase the bandwidth density of global interconnects [4]. They demonstrate charge carrier mean free paths between 500 nm and 10 μm as compared to 40 nm in metals. CNTs can carry exceptionally high current densities of up to 1010 A cm?2 even at elevated temperatures [5,6].... -

H. A. El-Demsisy, M. D. Asham, D. S. Louis, A. H. Phillips 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 8 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.21 2 8-15 (8 pages)
The thermoelectric Seebeck and Peltier effects of a single walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) quantum dot nanodevice are investigated, taking into consideration a certain value of applied tensile strain and induced ac-field with frequency in the terahertz (THz) range. This device is modeled as a SWCNT quantum dot connected to metallic leads. These two metallic leads operate as a source and a drain. In this three-terminal device, the conducting substance is the gate electrode. Another metallic gate... -

Physical and electrochemical qualities were analyzed after KOH activation of a direct methanol fuel cell using needle coke as anode supporter. The results of research on support loaded with platinum-ruthenium suggest that an activated KOH needle coke container has the lowest onset potential and the highest degree of catalyst activity among all commercial catalysts. Through an analysis of the CO stripping voltammetry, we found that KOH activated catalysis showed a 21% higher electrochemical... -

Mi-Seon Park, Sangmin Lee, Min-Jung Jung, Hyeong Gi Kim, Young-Seak Lee 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 7 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2016, Vol.20 3 19-25 (7 pages)
Activated carbon fiber (ACF) surfaces are modified using an electron beam under different aqueous solutions to improve the NO gas sensitivity of a gas sensor based on ACFs. The oxygen functional group on the ACF surface is changed, resulting in an increase of the number of non-carbonyl (-C-O-C-) groups from 32.5% for pristine ACFs to 39.53% and 41.75% for ACFs treated with hydrogen peroxide and potassium hydroxide solutions, respectively. We discover that the NO gas sensitivity of the gas sensor...
