Re-evaluation of Hypocrea pseudogelatinosa and H. pseudostraminea isolated from shiitake mushroom (Lentinula edodes) cultivation in Korea and Japan
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 16 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2012, 28권 4호 1 341-356 (16 pages)
internal transcribed spacer, translation elongation factor 1-α, and RNA polymerase subunit II sequences grouped one of the unidentified Trichoderma spp. with Hypocrea pseudogelatinosa and the other with Hypocrea pseudostraminea, and their morphologies matched well with the original descriptions of the two Hypocrea species. This study reports the first phylogenetic analyses of H. pseudogelatinosa and Japanese strains of H. pseudostraminea. Based on the phylogenetic results, we redescribed these... -
Characterization of the in vitro Activities of the P1 and Helper Component Proteases of Soybean mosaic virus Strain G2 and Tobacco vein mottling virus
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 5 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2012, 28권 2호 9 197-201 (5 pages)
Potyviruses express their RNA genomes through the production of polyproteins that are processed in host cells by three virus-encoded proteases. Soybean plants produce large amounts of protease inhibitors during seed development and in response to wounding that could affect the activities of these proteases. The in vitro activities of two of the proteases of Soybean mosaic virus (SMV) and Tobacco vein mottling virus (TVMV) were compared in the rabbit reticulocyte lysate in vitro translation... -
Identification of Trichoderma, a Competitor of Shiitake Mushroom (Lentinula edodes), and Competition between Lentinula edodes and Trichoderma species in Korea
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 12 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2012, 28권 2호 2 137-148 (12 pages)
of shiitake mushroom competitors, 289 isolates of Trichoderma spp. were collected from shiitake mushroom farms in different districts and the Forest Mushroom Research Center of Korea, among which 29 representative strains were selected. Based on the DNA sequences of the rpb2 and tef1 genes and the ITS rDNA, and their morphological characteristics, they were identified as T. atroviride, T. citrinoviride, T. harzianum, T. longibrachiatum, and two undescribed species, Trichoderma spp. 1 and 2, whic... -
Begomoviruses and Their Emerging Threats in South Korea: A Review
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 14 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2012, 28권 2호 1 123-136 (14 pages)
begomovirus complex and satellite DNA molecules. Thorough understanding of the pathosystems is needed for the designing of effective managements. Efforts should also be made towards the integration of the resistant genes for the development of transgenic plants specially tomato and sweet potato as they have been found to be widely infected in South Korea. There should be efficient surveillance for emergence or incursions of other begomoviruses and biotypes of whitefly. This review discusses the... -
Research Notes : Simple and Rapid Detection of Potato Leafroll virus by Reverse Transcription Loop-mediated Isothermal Amplification
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 5 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2011, 27권 4호 13 385-389 (5 pages)
A new reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification (RT-LAMP) method for the Potato leafroll virus (PLRV) was developed and compared with conventional reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) to address its advantages over RTPCR. RT-LAMP primers were designed from the open reading frame 3 (ORF3) sequence of PLRV. The RTLAMP reactions were conducted without or with a set of loop primers. By real-time monitoring using Turbimeter, the RT-LAMP (with loop primers)... -
Research Notes : Molecular Evidence of Recombination on Korean Isolates of Tomato yellow Leaf curl virus by Nucleotide Transversions and Transitions
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 7 Pages

a member of genus Begomovirus, was isolated in Korea in 2008. We sequenced and analyzed the DNA-A of 51 TYLCV isolates from Korea, and 13 of the TYLCV isolates were selected as type representatives of TYLCV from six Korean provinces. The 13 TYLCV isolates were classified into Korea Group 1 (KG1, nine isolates) and Korea Group 2 (KG2, four isolates) based on the results of phylogenetic analysis and genome size (2774 and 2781 nucleotides, respectively). A recombination detection program 3 (RDP3)... -
Research Notes : Characteristics of Cucumber mosaic virus isolated from Zea mays in Korea

frame (ORF) revealed approximately 89.2-92.4% sequence identity with each CMV subgroup IA and IB strain, while showing only 78% sequence identity with CMV subgroup II. Nucleotide sequence analysis of RNA2 ORFs revealed 85.3-97.6% sequence identity with subgroup I. In ORFs of RNA3, levels of nucleotide sequence identities were higher than 92-99.2% with CMV subgroup I and lower than 82% with CMV isolates of subgroup II. These results suggest that CMV-ZM isolate is more closely related to subgroup... -
Research Notes : Difference in Chemotype Composition of Fusarium graminearum Populations Isolated from Durum Wheat in Adjacent Areas Separated by the Apennines in Northern-Central Italy
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 6 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2011, 27권 4호 8 354-359 (6 pages)
Chemotype composition of Fusarium graminearum strains, isolated from durum wheat kernels from naturally FHB infected fields in Northern and Central Italy, was investigated by multiplex PCR. The different climatic and environmental conditions of the two examined areas separated by the Apennines affected the composition of chemotypes. 15Ac-DON chemotype was predominant in both the sub areas. Nivalneol chemotype was more frequent in the warmer sub area. -
Research Articles : Biocontrol Efficacies of Bacillus Species Against Cylindrocarpon destructans Causing Ginseng Root Rot

and 16S rRNA gene sequencing analyses. Antagonistic activity of both bacterial isolates to C. destructans increased with increasing temperature. More rapid starch hydrolytic activity of the bacteria was seen on starch agar at higher temperatures than at lower temperatures, and in the higher density inoculum treatment than in the lower density inoculum treatment. The bacterial isolates failed to colonize ginseng root the root tissues inoculated with the bacteria alone at an inoculum density of 1
