Md. Ariful Islam, Mst. Minara Khatun, Byeong-Kirl Baek*, Sung-Il Lee 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2009, 제 10권 제 3호 6 211-218 (8 pages)
Immunizing animals in the wild against Brucella (B.) abortus is essential to control bovine brucellosis because cattle can get the disease through close contact with infected wildlife. The aim of this experiment was to evaluate the effectiveness of the B. abortus strain RB51 vaccine in protecting infection as well as vertical transmission in Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats against B. abortus biotype 1. Virgin female SD rats (n = 48) two months of age were divided into two groups: one group (n = 24)... -
Immunohistochemical localization of galectin-3 in the granulomatous lesions of paratuberculosis-infected bovine intestine
Juyeon Lee, Changjong Moon, Jihoon Kim, Chanwoo Jung, Keun-Hwa Lee, Hong-Gu Joo, Meejung Ahn, Taekyun Shin* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2009, 제 10권 제 3호 1 177-180 (4 pages)
The presence of galectin-3 was immunohistochemically quantified in bovine intestines infected with paratuberculosis (Johne's disease) to determine whether galectin-3 was involved in the formation of granulation tissue associated with the disease. Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis infection was histochemically confirmed using Ziehl- Neelsen staining and molecularly diagnosed through rpoB DNA sequencing. Galectin-3 was detected in the majority of inflammatory cells, possibly macrophages,... -
Eosinophilic myositis in a slaughtered Korean native cattle
Sun Hee Do, Da-Hee Jeong, Jae-Yong Chung, Jin-Kyu Park, Hai-Jie Yang, Dong-Wei Yuan, Kyu-Shik Jeong* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2008, 제 9권 제 4호 14 425-428 (4 pages)
Histopathological findings of eosinophilic myositis in the carcass of a slaughtered Korean native cow are presented. Lesions contained massive fibrous septae with vacuolar changes in some lesions, and the hypercontraction and rupturing of muscle bundles, with replacement by eosinophils. Necrosis and severe eosinophil infiltration were observed. Sarcoplasmic fragmentation and atrophy developed. Typical of granuloma, calcified myofibers were focally surrounded by macrophages and numerous... -
Seroprevalence of low pathogenic avian influenza (H9N2) and associated risk factors in the Gyeonggi-do of Korea during 2005-2006
Jong-Tae Woo, Bong Kyun Park* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2008, 제 9권 제 2호 6 161-168 (8 pages)
Between November 2005 and March 2006, a total of 253 poultry flocks in the Gyeonggi-do of Korea were examined for seroprevalence against avian influenza (AI) using a hemagglutination inhibition (HI) test and an agar gel precipitation test. No low pathogenic avian influenza (LPAI) virus was isolated from 47 seropositive flocks that lacked clinical signs during sampling. The unadjusted percentage of seroprevalence rates of layer and broiler flocks were not significantly different, i.e., 26%... -
The combination of deoxynivalenol and zearalenone at permitted feed concentrations causes serious physiological effects in young pigs
Feng Chen, Yulin Ma, Chunyi Xue, Jingyun Ma, Qingmei Xie, Genhu Wang, Yingzuo Bi, Yongchang Cao, * 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2008, 제 9권 제 1호 6 39-44 (6 pages)
This study was to investigate the effects of the combination of deoxynivalenol (DON) and zearalenone (ZON) on pigs. Twenty-four weaning piglets were divided into a control group fed a diet free of mycotoxins and a toxin group fed a diet containing 1 mg/kg DON and 250 Ռg/kg ZON. The results showed that supplementation of DON and ZON in diets had extensive effects on pigs. More specifically, DON and ZON caused levels of total protein, albumin, and globulin in sera to decrease (p < 0.05) by... -
