Metoclopramide protection of diazinon-induced toxicosis in chickens
M. H. I. Al-Zubaidy, F. K. Mohammad 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2007, 제 8권 제 3호 8 249-254 (6 pages)
Metoclopramide at the dose rates of 12.5, 25, 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg, s.c. given 15 min before diazinon (10 mg/kg, p.o.) variably decreased the occurrence of toxic manifestations in the chicks. The highest dose of metoclopramide (200 mg/kg, s.c.) reduced the 2-h and 24-h lethality of diazinon to 75% each and it reduced the overall toxicity score of diazinon by 32%. The data suggest that metoclopramide pretreatment only partially protected chicks against the acute toxicity of diazinon. -

Diversity of swine Bordetella bronchiseptica isolates evaluated by RAPD analysis and PFGE
Eun-Kyung Shin, Yeon-Soo Seo, Jeong Hee Han, Tae-Wook Hahn 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 9 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2007, 제 8권 제 1호 10 65-73 (9 pages)
The degree of genetic diversity in 45 Bordetella (B.) bronchiseptica strains comprised of a vaccine strain (N = 1), reference strains (N = 3) and field isolates (N = 41) was evaluated using random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) fingerprinting and pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE). Three candidate primers were selected for RAPD analysis after screening 20 random decamer oligonucleotides for their discriminatory abilities. The OPA-07, OPA-08 and OPA-18 primers yielded 10, 10, and 6... -
Risk factors for delayed conception in Korean dairy herds
Ill-Hwa Kim, Hyun-Gu Kang 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 4호 13 381-385 (5 pages)
Delayed conception is defined as an interval of greater than 90 days postpartum before a cow becomes pregnant again. In this study, the risk factors for delayed conception in Korean dairy herds were determined by evaluating several reproductive factors in individual cows. The following data was recorded from 1,012 pregnancies in eight dairy herds (designated A-H) from July 2001 to June 2006: herd, cow parity, repeated animal (cows included 2, 3, or more times), calving season, calving condition... -
Canine renal failure syndrome in three dogs
Won-Il Jeong, Sun Hee Do, Da-Hee Jeong, Jae-Yong Chung, Hai-Jie Yang, Dong-Wei Yuan, Il-Hwa Hong, Jin-Kyu Park, Moon-Jung Goo, K 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 3 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 3호 16 299-301 (3 pages)
Three dead dogs were brought to the College of Veterinary Medicine, Kyungpook National University for study. Clinically, all the dogs showed emaciation, anorexia, depression, hemorrhagic vomiting and diarrhea for 7∼10 days before death. All the clinical signs were first noted for about one month after feeding the dogs with commercial diets. At necropsy, all 3 dogs had severe renal damage with the same green-yellowish colored nephroliths in the renal pelvis. They also showed systemic hemorrhage... -
Unique features of bovine lymphocytes exposed to a staphylococcal enterotoxin
Yong Ho Park, Sang Un Lee, Witold A. Ferens, Sparrow Samuels, William C. Davis, Lawrence K. Fox, Jong Sam Ahn, Keun Seok Seo, By 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 3호 5 233-239 (7 pages)
We previously demonstrated that stimulation of bovine peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) with staphylococcal enterotoxin C (SEC), led to an inversion of the CD4+:CD8+ T cell ratio and generation of an atypical CD8+ T cell subpopulation expressing CD26. In the present study, we examined T cell apoptosis and proliferation profiles of PBMC subpopulations in cultures stimulated with SEC. Unlike when stimulated with concanavalin A, nucleic acid synthesis in bovine PBMC cultures stimulated... -
Advancing parity is associated with high milk production at the cost of body condition and increased periparturient disorders in dairy herds
Ji-Yeon Lee, Ill-Hwa Kim 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 2호 12 161-166 (6 pages)
The objectives of this study were to determine the effects of parity on milk production, body condition change, periparturient health, and culling in Korean dairy herds. The data utilized included; milk yield, body condition score, cow parity, calving condition, periparturient disorders, culling, and reproductive status, which were recorded from 1290 calvings in eight dairy herds. The mean milk yield in cows over 305 days increased with increasing parity (p < 0.01). Cows with parities of 3, 4,... -
