This paper is important for its contribution to the developing knowledge-base in its conceptualizations of the role of young children in the promotion of social cohesion and peaceful societies. Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 27 Pages
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2017, Vol.11 No.1 3 41-67 (27 pages)
Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) is globally recognized as a crucial element of education for all. Therefore, countries have intensely pursued it. After many efforts, progress towards ensuring ECCE is apparent in many countries in the world. But most of them could not either completely achieve this goal or compromised its quality due to inadequate resources, improper planning and ineffective implementation strategies; especially a vast and populous country like India. Emotion Map Making. Discovering Teachers’ Relationships with Nature
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 26 Pages
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2018, Vol.12 No.2 3 31-56 (26 pages)
Outdoor education means increasing the opportunity to encounter and experiment with nature, but above all, it means rethinking one’s own relationship with nature. Professionals working in the field of education cannot transmit to children what they do not know or share. Therefore, to foster education in nature with pedagogical skill, it is important for each practitioner to become aware of their own way of thinking and be willing to undergo an authentic noological revolution (Bateson, 1976),... -

Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 23 Pages
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2018, Vol.12 No.2 2 7-29 (23 pages)
This article discusses a single case analysis of teacher-child interactions on an everyday bush walk in New Zealand. It uses a combination of the Leuven wellbeing scale (Laevers, 2000) and a conversation analysis approach to explore how children and teachers attend to specific features of the outdoor environment in a way that encourages risk-taking and builds resilience through problem solving. The collaborative achievement of the activities between the pre- school teacher and the fouryear- old... -

would also likely benefit, if story reading goals and strategies were changed to focus on higher-level story comprehension. Examples of suitable storybooks and comprehension support strategies are used to illustrate how the complementary goals of supporting story comprehension and social-emotional learning might be addressed. These examples also suggest a research intervention needed to determine whether story comprehension support strategies can also benefit social-emotional understanding. -

In Singapore, many parents find it difficult to locate early childhood services for their children with special needs. As Singapore does not have laws protecting the right to education for children with special needs, early childhood center administrators (managers and principals) make admission decisions at their own discretion on a case-by-case basis. This qualitative interview study examines the individual, varied patterns of early childhood center administrators’ admission decision making...
