Effects of Fluvastatin on the Pharmacokinetics of Repaglinide: Possible Role of CYP3A4 and P-glycoprotein Inhibition by Fluvastatin
Chong-KiLee, Jun-ShikChoi, JoonSeokBang 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 7 Pages

be mainly attributable to the inhibition of the CYP3A4-mediated metabolism of repaglinide in the small intestine and/or liver, to the inhibition of the P-gp efflux transporter in the small intestine and/or to the reduction of TBC of repaglinide by fluvastatin. The study has raised the awareness of potential interactions during concomitant use of repaglinide with fluvastatin. Therefore, the concurrent use of repaglinide and fluvastatin may require close monitoring for potential drug interactions. -

proteins such as GՁq/11, GՁi, GՁ12/13, and GՁs and the related signal transduction pathway. In the present study, we examined LPA effects on BKCa channel activity expressed in Xenopus oocytes, which are known to endogenously express the LPA receptor. Treatment with LPA induced a large outward current in a reversible and concentration-dependent manner. However, repeated treatment with LPA induced a rapid desensitization, and the LPA receptor antagonist Ki16425 blocked LPA... -
5,8-Dimethoxy-2-Nonylamino-Naphthalene-1,4-DioneInhibitsVascular Smooth Muscle Cell Proliferation by Blocking Autophosphorylation of PDGF-Receptor β

a critical role in the development of atherosclerosis and vascular restenosis, a candidate drug with antiproliferative properties is needed. We investigated the antiproliferative action and underlying mechanism of a newly synthesized naphthoquinone derivative, 5,8-dimethoxy-2-nonylamino-naphthalene-1,4-dione (2-nonylamino- DMNQ), using VSMCs treated with platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF). 2-Nonylamino-DMNQ inhibited proliferation and cell number of VSMCs induced by PDGF, but not epidermal... -
Inhibitory Effects of Ginsenoside Metabolites, Compound K and Protopanaxatriol, on GABAC Receptor-Mediated Ion Currents

inhibited the GABA-induced inward peak current (IGABA). Interestingly, pre-application of M4 inhibited IGABA more potently than CK in a dose- dependent and reversible manner. The half-inhibitory concentration (IC50) values of CK and M4 were 52.1±2.3 and 45.7±3.9 ՌM, respectively. Inhibition of IGABA by CK and M4 was voltage-independent and non- competitive. This study implies that ginsenoside metabolites may regulate GABAC receptor channel activity in the brain, including in the eyes. -
Anti-Inflammatory and Anti-Superbacterial Activity of Polyphenols Isolated from Black Raspberry

The fruit of the black raspberry (Rubus coreanus Miquel) has been employed in traditional medicine, and recent studies have demonstrated its measureable biological activities. However, the root of the black raspberry has not been studied. Therefore, in this study, we evaluated the anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties of the root and unripe fruit polyphenols of the black raspberry. Both polyphenols proved to have anti-inflammatory activity as evidenced by the decreased nitric oxide (NO)... -
Taxifolin Glycoside Blocks Human ether-a-go-go Related Gene K+ Channels

technique. We found that taxifolin glycoside directly blocked hERG K+ current in a concentration-dependent manner (EC50=9.6±0.7ՌM). The activation curve of hERG K+ channels was negatively shifted by taxifolin glycoside. In addition, taxifolin glycoside accelerated the activation time constant and reduced the onset of the inactivation time constant. These results suggest that taxifolin glycoside blocks hERG K+ channels that function by facilitating activation and inactivation process. -

This study was designed to determine the protective effect of Rumex Aquaticus Herba extracts containing quercetin-3-Ղ-D-glucuronopyranoside (ECQ) on experimental reflux esophagitis. Reflux esophagitis was induced by surgical procedure. The rats were divided into seven groups, namely normal group, control group, ECQ (1, 3, 10, 30 mg/kg) group and omeprazole (30 mg/kg) group. ECQ and omeprazole groups received intraduodenal administration. The Rats were starved for 24 hours before the... -

steroid precursors for conventional medicine. In the previous study, We isolated glycoprotein (GDB) from Dioscorea batatas, characterized, and demonstrated immunostimulating activity in C57BL/6 mice. The aim of this study was to investigate the mechanism whereby GDB activates macrophages. Macrophages activation by GDB was investigated by analyzing the effects of GDB on nitric oxide (NO) production, iNOS expression, mitogen activated protein kinase (MAPK) phosphorylation, and transcription factor... -
The Effect of LidocaineㆍHCl on the Fluidity of Native and Model Membrane Lipid Bilayers

greater fluidizing effect on the inner monolayer than the outer monolayer. LidocaineㆍHCl increased annular lipid fluidity in SPMV lipid bilayers. It also caused membrane proteins to cluster. The most important finding of this study is that there is far greater increase in annular lipid fluidity than that in lateral and rotational mobilities by lidocaineㆍHCl. LidocaineㆍHCl alters the stereo or dynamics of the proteins in the lipid bilayers by combining with lipids, especially with the annular... -

exerted anti-tumor activities on HeLa cells, suggesting the involvement of PI3-kinase/Akt pathway in GP-induced cell death of the cancer cells. Indeed, the cytotoxic effect of GP against HeLa cells was inhibited by overexpression of constituvely active form of Akt in HeLa cells. The candidates of the functional proteins in GP were analyzed by Mass-spectrum. Taken together, our results suggest that GP elicits anti-tumor activity against HeLa cells by inhibition of PI3-kinase/Akt pathway.
