어미는 통사적 핵으로서 V 범주, 즉 V, V', VP 등의 범주와 결합 한다. 어미의 이와 같은 결합 특성은 이론적, 경험적 측면에서 지극히 자 연스러운 것으로 여러 현상을 통해 뒷받침된다. 결합 특성에 따라 어미가 형성하는 통사구조도 다양성을 띠게 되며 이러한 구조적 다양성은 현상 을 통해 어느 정도 입증된다. 한편 어미 단위를 확인하고 분석하는 방법 을 명확히 해야 하는데 이와 관련해 규칙성, 생산성, 합성성 등에 대한 처 리 방안을 마련할 필요가 있다.
