The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 8 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2002, Vol.6 No.2 5 93-100 (8 pages)
Effects of oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL), l-α-stearoyl-lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC), on intracellular Ca2 concentration were examined in mouse endothelial cells by measuring intracellular Ca2 concentration ([Ca2]i) with fura 2-AM and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). LPC increased [Ca2]i under the condition of 1.5 mM [Ca2]o but did not show any effect under the nominally Ca2-free condition. Even after the store... -

minimal neurotoxicity (0∼10%) at the end of 24 hr exposure, but marked neuronal cell death at the end of 48 hr exposure. The BSO (1 mM)-induced neurotoxicity was markedly inhibited by trolox or CHX and partially attenuated by MK-801. DEM induced dose-dependent cytotoxicity at the end of 24 hr exposure. Over the doses of 400μM, glial toxicity also appeared. DEM (200μM)-induced neurotoxicity was markedly inhibited by trolox or PDTC. Phorone (1 mM) induced moderate neurotoxicity (40%) at the end... -

The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2000, Vol.4 No.2 11 159-167 (9 pages)
We have synthesized a novel platinum(II) coordination complex containing cis-1,2-diaminocyclohexane (DACH) as a carrier ligand and 1,2-dichloroethane (DCE) as a leaving group. In addition, nitrate was added to improve the water-solubility. A new series of [Pt(cis-DACH)(DCE)]·2NO3(PC) was evaluated for its cytotoxic activity on T-24 and J-82 human bladder carcinoma cells and normal primary cultured kidney cells. PC has demonstrated high levels of cytotoxicity against T-24 and J-82 cells. The... -

The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2000, Vol.4 No.2 1 81-90 (10 pages)
The types of K channel which determine the pattern of spontaneous action potential (SAP) were investigated using whole-cell variation of patch clamp techniques under current- and voltage-clamp recording conditions in rat clonal pituitary GH3 cells. Heterogeneous pattern of SAP activities was changed into more regular mode with elongation of activity duration and afterhyperpolarization by treatment of TEA (10 mM). Under this condition, exposure of the class III antiarrhythmic agent E-4031... -
Effect of Propofol, an Intravenous Anesthetic Agent, on KATP Channels of Pancreatic β-cells in Rats
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 7 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2000, Vol.4 No.1 4 25-31 (7 pages)
ATP-sensitive potassium channels (KATP channels) play an important role in insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells. We have investigated the effect of propofol on KATP channels in cultured single pancreatic beta cells of rats. Channel activity was recorded from membrane patches using the patch-clamp technique. In the inside-out configuration bath-applied propofol inhibited the KATP channel activities in a dose-dependent manner. The half-maximal inhibition dose (ED50) was 48.6⁑8.4μM... -

a minimal effect on the glucose- enhancing effect. PMA, a PKC activator, did not show any significant effect on glucose-associated NO production. Modulation of sorbitol pathway with zopolrestat, an aldose reductase inhibitor, did not affect LPS-induced NO production and iNOS expression under high glucose condition. And also, sodium pyruvate, which is expected to normalize cytosolic NADH/NAD ratio, did not show any significant effect at concentrations of up to 10 mM. Glucosamine marginally... -

The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 7 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 1998, Vol.2 No.4 3 419-425 (7 pages)
To clarify the effect of extracellular ATP in cultured C6 glioma cells, ATP-induced cytosolic free calcium ([Ca2]i) mobilization and cell proliferation were investigated. ATP-induced [Ca2]i increased in a dose-dependent manner (107 M∼103 M). ATP-induced [Ca2]i increases were slightly slowed in extracellular calcium-free conditions especially in sustained phase. ATP-induced [Ca2]i increment was also inhibited by the pretreatment of U73122, a... -

Human neutrophil elastase (HNElastase, EC 3.4.21.37), a causative factor of inflammatory diseases, was purified by Ultrogel AcA54 gel filtration and CM-Sephadex ion exchange chromatography. HNElastase was inhibited by phenylbutazone in a concentration dependent manner up to 0.4 mM, but as the concentration increased, the inhibitory effect gradually diminished. Binding of phenylbutazone to the human neutrophil elastase caused strong Raman shifts at 200, 440, and 1194 cm1. The peak at 1194... -
