대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2015, 제 16권 제 3호 16 373-380 (8 pages)
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of rapamycin treatment during in vitro maturation (IVM) on oocyte maturation and embryonic development after parthenogenetic activation (PA) and somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) in pigs. Morphologically good (MGCOCs) and poor oocytes (MPCOCs) were untreated or treated with 1 nM rapamycin during 0–22 h, 22–42 h, or 0–42 h of IVM. Rapamycin had no significant effects on nuclear maturation and blastocyst formation... -

대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2015, 제 16권 제 1호 9 67-74 (8 pages)
The purpose of the present study was to establish normal electroretinogram (ERG) parameters using 56 normal eyes of four dog breeds common in Thailand: poodle, Labrador retriever, Thai ridgeback, and Thai Bangkaew. Standard ERG findings were bilaterally recorded using a handheld multi-species ERG unit with an ERG-jet lens electrode for 28 dogs under preanesthesia with diazepam, anesthesia with propofol, and anesthesia maintenance with isoflurane. There were significant... -
Detection of Corynebacterium bovis infection in athymic nude mice from a research animal facility in Korea
Tae-Hyoun Kim, Dong-Su Kim, Ju-Hee Han, Seo-Na Chang, Kyung-Sul Kim, Seung-Hyeok Seok, Dong-Jae Kim, Jong-Hwan Park, Jae-Hak Par 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2014, 제 15권 제 4호 13 583-586 (4 pages)
Corynebacterium (C.) bovis infection in nude mice causes hyperkeratosis and weight loss and has been reported worldwide but not in Korea. In 2011, nude mice from an animal facility in Korea were found to have white flakes on their dorsal skin. Histopathological testing revealed that the mice had hyperkeratosis and Gram-positive bacteria were found in the skin. We identified isolated bacteria from the skin lesions as C. bovis using PCR and 16S rRNA sequencing. To the best of our knowledge, this... -
Comparison of arylalkylamine N-acetyltransferase and melatonin receptor type 1B immunoreactivity between young adult and aged canine spinal cord

in aged dog spinal neurons compared to young adult spinal neurons. MT2-specific immunoreactivity was found in the cytoplasm of spinal neurons, and was predominantly increased in the margin of the neuron cytoplasm in aged spinal cord compared to that in the young adult dogs. These increased levels of AANAT and MT2 immunoreactivity in aged spinal cord might be a feature of normal aging and associated with a feedback mechanism that compensates for decreased production of melatonin during aging. -
Common allergens of atopic dermatitis in dogs: comparative findings based on intradermal tests
Ha-Jung Kim, Min-Hee Kang, Hee-Myung Park* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2011, 제 12권 제 3호 13 287-290 (4 pages)
Intradermal tests were performed on 58 dogs diagnosed with atopic dermatitis from 2004∼2008 at the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of Konkuk University, Korea. To compare the allergen distribution observed in the present investigation to the results from other studies conducted in Korea and elsewhere, the allergens were grouped according to their kinds. There was no significant difference in gender distribution among the dogs. The most common breeds among the 58 dogs were Maltese (n =... -
Comparison of the age-related porcine endogenous retrovirus (PERV) expression using duplex RT-PCR
Hyoung Joon Moon, Hye Kwon Kim, Seong Jun Park, Chul Seung Lee, Dae Sub Song, Bo Kyu Kang, Bong Kyun Park* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2009, 제 10권 제 4호 7 317-322 (6 pages)
Porcine endogenous retroviruses (PERVs) are members of family Retroviridae, genus Gamma retrovirus, and transmitted by both horizontally and vertically like other endogenous retroviruses (ERVs). PERV was initially described in the 1970s having inserted its gene in the host genome of different pig breeds, and three classes, PERV-A, PERV-B, and PERV-C are known. The therapeutic use of living cells, tissues, and organs from animals called xenotransplantation might relieve the limited supply of... -
Induction of oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation in rats chronically exposed to cypermethrin through dermal application
Rajinder Raina, Pawan K. Verma, N. K. Pankaj, Shahid Prawez* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 3 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2009, 제 10권 제 3호 12 257-259 (3 pages)
Present study was undertaken to study the effect of cypermethrin on oxidative stress after chronic dermal application. The insecticide was applied dermally at 50 mg/kg body weight in different groups of Wistar rats of either sex weighing 150∼200 g. Significant (p < 0.05) increase in catalase activity was observed after 30 days of exposure. However, the superoxide dismutase activity declined significantly after 60 days of exposure. The activity of glutathione peroxidase and blood... -
Immunohistochemical identification and quantitative analysis of cytoplasmic Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase in mouse organogenesis
Jung-Min Yon, In-Jeoung Baek, Se-Ra Lee, Mi-Ra Kim, Beom Jun Lee, Young Won Yun, Sang-Yoon Nam 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2008, 제 9권 제 3호 2 233-240 (8 pages)
Cytoplasmic Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase (SOD1) is an antioxidant enzyme that converts superoxide to hydrogen peroxide in cells. Its spatial distribution matches that of superoxide production, allowing it to protect cells from oxidative stress. SOD1 deficiencies result in embryonic lethality and a wide range of pathologies in mice, but little is known about normal SOD1 protein expression in developing embryos. In this study, the expression pattern of SOD1 was investigated in post-implantation... -
