Cardamonin inhibits agonist-induced vascular contractility via Rho-kinase and MEK inhibition
HyunDongJe, JiHoonJeong 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2016, Vol.20 No.1 9 69-74 (6 pages)
The present study was undertaken to investigate the influence of cardamonin on vascular smooth muscle contractility and to determine the mechanism(s) involved. Denuded aortic rings from male rats were used and isometric contractions were recorded and combined with molecular experiments. Cardamonin significantly relaxed fluoride-, phenylephrine-, and phorbol ester-induced vascular contractions, suggesting that it has an anti-hypertensive effect on agonist-induced vascular contraction regardless... -

JiYoungJeong, YounghaeSon, Bo-YoungKim, Seong-KugEo, Byung-YongRhim, KoanhoiKim 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 7 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2015, Vol.19 No.6 10 549-555 (7 pages)
We attempted to investigate molecular mechanisms underlying phenotypic change of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) by determining signaling molecules involved in chemokine production. Treatment of human aortic smooth muscle cells (HAoSMCs) with thrombin resulted not only in elevated transcription of the (C-C motif) ligand 11 (CCL11) gene but also in enhanced secretion of CCL11 protein. Co-treatment of HAoSMCs with GF109230X, an inhibitor of protein kinase C, or GW5074, an inhibitor of Raf-1... -
Epigallocatechin-3-Gallate (EGCG) Attenuates Traumatic Brain Injury by Inhibition of Edema Formation and Oxidative Stress

대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2015, Vol.19 No.6 3 491-497 (7 pages)
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major cause of mortality and long-term disability, which can decrease quality of life. In spite of numerous studies suggesting that Epigallocatechin-3- gallate (EGCG) has been used as a therapeutic agent for a broad range of disorders, the effect of EGCG on TBI remains unknown. In this study, a weight drop model was established to evaluate the therapeutic potential of EGCG on TBI. Rats were administered with 100 mg/kg EGCG or PBS intraperitoneally. At different... -
Activation of G Proteins by Aluminum Fluoride Enhances RANKL- Mediated Osteoclastogenesis

대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2013, Vol.17 No.5 8 427-433 (7 pages)
Receptor activator of NF-ՊB ligand (RANKL)-induced osteoclastogenesis is accompanied by intra-cellular Ca2+ mobilization in a form of oscillations, which plays essential roles by activating sequen-tially Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase, calcineurin and NFATc1, necessary in the osteoclast differentiation. However, it is not known whether Ca2+ mobilization which is evoked in RANKL-in-dependent way induces to differentiate into osteoclasts. In present study, we investigated Ca2+... -
The Inhibitory Effect of Eupatilin on the Agonist-Induced Regulation of Vascular Contractility
HyunDongJe, Hyeong-DongKim, JiHoonJeong 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2013, Vol.17 No.1 5 31-36 (6 pages)
The present study was undertaken to investigate the influence of eupatilin on vascular smooth muscle contractility and to determine the mechanism involved. Denuded aortic rings from male rats were used and isometric contractions were recorded and combined with molecular experiments. Eupatilin more significantly relaxed fluoride-induced vascular contraction than thromboxane A2 or phorbol ester-induced contraction suggesting as a possible anti-hypertensive on the agonist-induced vascular... -

Mast cells are involved in allergic responses, protection against pathogens and autoimmune diseases. Dexamethasone (Dex) and other glucocorticoids suppress FcՅRI-mediated release of inflammatory mediators from mast cells. The inhibition mechanisms were mainly investigated on the downstream signaling of Fc receptor activations. Here, we addressed the effects of Dex on Fc receptor expressions in rat mast cell line RBL-2H3. We measured mRNA levels of Fc receptors by real-time PCR. As... -

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and adenocarcinoma (AC) are the major histological types of non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC). Although both SCCs and ACs have been characterized histologically and clinically, the precise mechanisms underlying their migration and invasion are not yet known. Here, we address the involvement in NSCLC of the p21-associated kinase1 (Pak1)/LIM kinase1 (LIMK1)/cofilin pathway, which recently has been reported to play a critical role in tumor migration and invasion.... -
Defective Mitochondrial Function and Motility Due to Mitofusin 1 Overexpression in Insulin Secreting Cells

대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2012, Vol.16 No.1 11 71-77 (7 pages)
Mitochondrial dynamics and distribution is critical for their role in bioenergetics and cell survival. We investigated the consequence of altered fission/fusion on mitochondrial function and motility in INS-1E rat clonal Ղ-cells. Adenoviruses were used to induce doxycycline-dependent expression of wild type (WT-Mfn1) or a dominant negative mitofusin 1 mutant (DN-Mfn1). Mitochondrial morphology and motility were analyzed by monitoring mitochondrially-targeted red fluorescent protein.... -

of Ca2+ signaling that accelerate the GTPase activity of the G-protein Ձ-subunit. RGS1, RGS2, RGS4, and RGS16 are expressed in the pancreas, and RGS2 regulates G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR)-induced Ca2+ oscillations. However, the role of RGS4 in Ca2+ signaling in pancreatic acinar cells is unknown. In this study, we investigated the mechanism of GPCR-induced Ca2+ signaling in pancreatic acinar cells derived from RGS4−/− mice. RGS4−/− acinar cells showed an... -
Calcium Sensitization Induced by Sodium Fluoride in Permeabilized Rat Mesenteric Arteries

대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2010, Vol.14 No.1 8 51-57 (7 pages)
It was hypothesized that NaF induces calcium sensitization in Ca2+-controlled solution in permeabilized rat mesenteric arteries. Rat mesenteric arteries were permeabilized with Ղ- escin and subjected to tension measurement. NaF potentiated the concentration-response curves to Ca2+ (decreased EC50 and increased Emax). Cumulative addition of NaF (4.0, 8.0 and 16 mM) also increased vascular tension in Ca2+-controlled solution at pCa 7.0 or pCa 6.5, but not at pCa 8.0. NaF-induced...
