Genotypic characterization of Staphylococcus aureus isolated from bovines, humans, and food in Indonesia
Siti Isrina Oktavia Salasia*, Syarifudin Tato, Ngalijan Sugiyono, Dwi Ariyanti, Feny Prabawati 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 9 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2011, 제 12권 제 4호 8 353-361 (9 pages)
The present study determined the genetic relationships between 41 Staphyloccocus (S.) aureus isolates from bovines, humans, and food using a single enzyme amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) technique. We evaluated the prevalence of staphylococcal enterotoxin (SE) genes and other virulence gene determinants by PCR. The identification of S. aureus was based on culturing and biochemical tests, and by amplifying a specific section of the 23S rRNA gene. PCR amplification of the SE genes... -
Comparison of bare metal stent and paclitaxel-eluting stent using a novel rat aorta stent model

analysis to evaluate re-endothelialization, and the other segment was used to calculate the neointimal area. At 2 weeks after stenting, the appearance of neointimal hyperplasia was less in the PES group than in the BMS group. At 4 weeks after stenting, no significant difference in neointimal hyperplasia was observed between two groups. On the other hand, the PES group showed more thrombus formation and less re-endothelialization compared to the BMS group. This study demonstrated the ability of a... -
Comparison between open and closed methods of herniorrhaphy in calves affected with umbilical hernia
Bibek Chandra Sutradhar*, Mohammad Farhad Hossain, Bhajan Chandra Das, Gonhyung Kim, Mohammad Alamgir Hossain 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2009, 제 10권 제 4호 11 343-347 (5 pages)
Umbilical hernias in calves commonly present to veterinary clinics, which are normally secondary to failure of the normal closure of the umbilical ring, and which result in the protrusion of abdominal contents into the overlying subcutis. The aim of this study was to compare the suitability of commonly-used herniorrhaphies for the treatment of reducible umbilical hernia in calves. Thirty-four clinical cases presenting to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences... -
Canine model of ischemic stroke with permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion: clinical and histopathological findings
Byeong-Teck Kang, Jong-Hwan Lee, Dong-In Jung, Chul Park, Su-Hyun Gu, Hyo-Won Jeon, Dong-Pyo Jang, Chae-Young Lim, Fu-Shi Quan, 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2007, 제 8권 제 4호 9 369-376 (8 pages)
The aim of the present study was to assess the clinical and histopathological findings in a canine model of ischemic stroke. Cerebral ischemic stroke was induced by middle cerebral artery occlusion in four healthy beagle dogs using silicone plugs. They showed neurological signs of forebrain dysfunction such as reduced responsiveness, head turning, circling, postural reaction deficits, perceptual deficits, and hemianopsia. These signs gradually regressed within 4 weeks without therapy. On... -
Collaborative control initiatives targeting zoonotic agents of alveolar echinococcosis in the northern hemisphere
Masao Kamiya* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 10 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2007, 제 8권 제 4호 1 313-322 (10 pages)
Alveolar echinococcosis is one of the most important lethal zoonotic helminth infections in the northern hemisphere. Currently, the threat to public health is increasing, as evidenced by the rising prevalence rate of alveolar echinococcosis, as well as the invasion of urban areas by infected wild foxes. This threat is further increased due to the involvement of pet dogs, and probably cats, as emerging sources of infection. These increased threats to public health also have associated economic... -
Pygomelia or supernumerary limbs in a crossbred calf
M. M. Rahman, M. S. I. Khan, D. Biswas, B. C. Sutradhar, A. K. M. Saifuddin 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 3 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 3호 17 303-305 (3 pages)
A crossbred (Sindhi × local indigenous) calf that was 12 days old was admitted to the Teaching Veterinary Hospital, Chittagong Government Veterinary College, Bangladesh, with two accessory hind limbs attached to the pelvic region in between the hind legs. This was clinically identified as a congenital anomaly popularly called pygomelia. The pygomelia was successfully corrected by surgical excisions. -
Application of biotechnological tools for coccidia vaccine development
Wongi Min, Rami A. Dalloul, Hyun S. Lillehoj 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 10 Pages

and proteins involved in eliciting protective host responses are crucial for the development of new control strategy. This review will highlight recent developments in coccidiosis research with special emphasis on the utilization of cutting edge techniques in molecular/cell biology, immunology, and functional genomics in coccidia vaccine development. The information will enhance our understanding of host-parasite biology, mucosal immunology, and host and parasite genomics in the development of a... -
The Effects of Korean Red Ginseng (Ginseng Radix Rubra) on Liver Regeneration after Partial Hepatectomy in Dogs
Young-sam Kwon, Kwang-ho Jang, In-ho Jang 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 10 Pages

within normal ranges except leukocyte counts for 3 days postoperatively. The levels of AST and ALT in the treated groups were significantly decreased compared to that in the control group (p<0.05). The numbers of degenerative cells and area of connective tissue were significantly decreased in the liver of the dog with KRG administration (p<0.01). On the basis of these results, we could conclude that KRG accelerate the liver regeneration and ameliorate the liver injury after hepatectomy in dogs. -
Development and Evaluation of a New Apparatus for Continuous Perfusion of Isolated Perfused Pig Heart
Mi-Young An, Emmanuelle P. Canel, In-Ho Jang, Didier Revel, Theresa W. Fossum, Nam-Sik Chungand Marc F. Janier 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 14 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2002, 제 3권 제 3호 12 219-232 (14 pages)
To develop a better model of isolated perfused heart, a new apparatus of coronary artery cannula- fixed-in-aortic tube was developed for continuous normothermic perfusion and compared to the Casalis apparatus with cold ischemia. Eight mongrel pigs with the body weight of 18 to 24 kg were divided half into two groups. All the continuous perfusion experimental hearts resumed a spontaneous heart beat and stabilized earlier than the control hearts without the need of defibrillator or pacemaker,... -
