of T-type Ca2 channels, and the firing patterns during depolarization. In the present study, function and molecular expression of ATP-sensitive K (KATP) channels was investigated in MPG neurons of male rats. Only in parasympathetic MPG neurons showing phasic firing patterns, hyperpolarizing changes were elicited by the application of diazoxide, an activator of KATP channels. Glibenclamide (10μM), a KATP channel blocker, completely abolished the diazoxide-induced hyperpolarization.... -
The Regulation of AP-1 DNA Binding Activity by Long-term Nicotine Stimulation in Bovine Adrenal Medullary Chromaffin Cells Role of Second Messengers
Jin-KooLee, Seong-SooChoi, Hong-WonSuh 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 4 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2002, Vol.6 No.2 7 109-112 (4 pages)
The signal pathways involved in the regulation of AP-1 DNA binding activity in long-term nicotine stimulated bovine adrenal medullary chromaffin (BAMC) cells have not been well characterized. To understand the involvement of second messengers in the regulation of AP-1 DNA binding activity, the present study was designed to define the time-course for inhibition of nicotine-induced responses by cholinergic antagonists, Ca2 and calmodulin (CaM) antagonists, and calcium/calmodulin-dependent... -
Effects of Cholecystokinin Octapeptide on Neuronal Activities in the Rat Nucleus Tractus Solitarius

Cholecystokinin (CCK) is a gastrointestinal hormone which plays an important role in satiety and gastric motility. It is also widely distributed throughout the central nervous system, where it appears to be involved in the central control of anxiety, feeding behavior and nociception. Two distinct CCK receptor types, CCKA and CCKB, have been found in the brain. Both CCK receptors coexist in the rat nucleus tractus solitarius (NTS), which is the primary center for the coordination of peripheral... -
Neurotensin Enhances Gastric Motility in Antral Circular Muscle Strip of Guinea-pig

Many reports suggest that neurotensin (NT) in the gastrointestinal tract may play a possible role as a neurotransmitter, a circulating hormone, or a modulator of motor activity. NT exerts various actions in the intestine; it produces contractile and relaxant responses in intestinal smooth muscle. This study was designed to investigate the effect of NT on motility of antral circular muscle strips in guinea-pig stomach. To assess the role of Ca2 influx in underlying mechanism, slow waves... -
Effect of the Inhibition of Phospholipase A2 in Generation of Free Radicals in Intestinal Ischemia/Reperfusion Induced Acute Lung Injury
YoungManLee, Yoon-yubPark, TeoanKim, HyunG.Cho, YoonJeongLee, JohnE.Repine 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 11 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 1999, Vol.3 No.3 4 263-273 (11 pages)
The role of phospholipase A2 (PLA2) in acute lung leak induced by intestinal ischemia was investigated in association with neutrophilic respiratory burst. To induce lung leak, we generated intestinal ischemia for 60 min prior to the 120 min reperfusion by clamping superior mesenteric artery in Sprague-Dawley rats. Acute lung leak was confirmed by the increased lung leak index and protein content in bronchoalveolar fluid. These changes were inhibited by mepacrine, the non-specific PLA2... -
Molecular Analysis of AQP2 Promoter. I. cAMP-dependent Regulation of Mouse AQP2 Gene
MiYoungPark, YongHwanLee, HaeRahnBae, RyangHwaLee, SangHoLee, JinSupJung 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 8 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 1999, Vol.3 No.2 5 157-164 (8 pages)
To determine molecular mechanisms of Aquaporin-CD (AQP2) gene regulation, the promoter region of the AQP2 gene was examined by transiently transfecting a promoter-luciferase reporter fusion gene into mouse renal collecting duct cell lines such as mIMCD-3, mIMCD-K2, and M-1 cells, and NIH3T3 mouse embryo fibroblast cells. PCR-Southern analysis reveals that mIMCD-3 and mIMCD-K2 cells express AQP2, but M-1 and NIH3T3 cells do not, and that the treatment with cpt-cAMP (400μM) or forskolin/... -
Further Characterization of Bombesin Like Immunoreactivities from the Skin of Korean Fire-bellied Toad, Bombina orientalis

대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 1998, Vol.2 No.5 12 637-644 (8 pages)
Previously, we have isolated authentic bombesin and another bombesin like peptide named bombesin like immunoreactivity (BLI)-K2 from the skin of Korean fire-bellied toad, Bombina orientalis. In the present study, we have newly purified three heterogeneous forms of BLI named BLI-K3, BLI-K4, and BLI-K5 from side fractions obtained in previous isolation of bombesin like peptide. The BLIs were separated into five peaks on a column of C18 preparative HPLC. Among them, three minor peaks containing... -

It has been reported that the g1ycoprotein extracted from A10e has strong anti-inflammatory response, However, there has been no research report yet about the effect of A10e on allergic hypersensitivity reactivity, By using guinea pig 1ung mast cells, this study aimed to examine the effects of A10e g1ycoprotein (NY945) on the mediator re1eases caused by mast cell activation, and a1so aimed to assess the effects of NY945 on the mechanism of mediator re1eases in the mast cell activation. We...
