The Effects of Intracellular Monocarboxylates on the ATP-sensitive Potassium Channels in Rabbit Ventricular Myocytes

A regulating mechanism of the ATP-sensitive potassium channels (KATP channels) is yet to fully explained. This study was carried out to investigate the effects of intracellular application of monocarboxylates (acetate, formate, lactate, and pyruvate) on KATP channels in isolated rabbit ventricular myocytes. Single channel currents of KATP channels were recorded using the excised inside-out or permeabilized attached (open-cell) patch-clamp technique at room temperature. Intracellular application... -
Dual Action of d-Tubocurarine on Large-Conductance Ca2+-activated K+ Channels from Rat Brain Reconstituted into Planar Lipid Bilayer

대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 1998, Vol.2 No.5 2 549-553 (5 pages)
Using the planar lipid bilayer method, we investigated the effect of d-tubocurarine (dTC) on the extracellular side of large-conductance Ca2+-activated K+ channel from rat brain. When the initial open probability (Po) of the channel was relatively high, dTC decreased channel activity in a concentration dependent manner. In contrast, when the initial Po was lower, sub-micro molar dTC increased channel activity by destabilizing the closed states of the channel. Further addition of dTC up to micro... -

대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 1998, Vol.2 No.4 15 529-539 (11 pages)
The effects of membrane surface charge originated from lipid head groups on ion channels were tested by analyzing the activity of single large conductance Ca2-activated K (maxi K) channel from rat skeletal muscle. The conductances and open-state probability (Po) of single maxi K channels were compared in three types of planar lipid bilayers formed from a neutral phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) or two negatively-charged phospholipids, phosphatidylserine (PS) and phosphatidylinositol... -
cAMP-Dependent Signalling is Involved in Adenosine-Stimulated Cl Secretion in Rabbit Colon Mucosa
SaeOckOh, EuiYongKim, JinSupJung, JaeSukWoo, YongKeunKim, SangHoLee 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 7 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 1998, Vol.2 No.4 14 521-527 (7 pages)
the effect of adenosine on Cl secretion and its underlying mechanism in the rabbit colon mucosa, we measured short circuit current (ISC) under automatic voltage clamp with DVC-1000 in a modified Ussing chamber. Adenosine, when added to the basolateral side of the muocsa, increased ISC in a dose-dependent manner. The adenosine-stimulated ISC response was abolished when Cl in the bath solution was replaced completely with gluconate. In addition, the ISC response was inhibited by a... -
Pharmacological Characterization of Synthetic Tetrahydroisoquinoline Alkaloids, YS 51 and YS 55, on the Cardiovascular System

Tetrahydroisoquinoline (THI) alkaloids can be considered as cyclized derivatives of simple phenylethylamines, and many of them, especially with 6,7-disubstitution, demonstrate relatively high affinity for catecholamines. Two -OH groups at 6 and 7 positions are supposed to be essential to exert -receptor activities. However, it is not clear whether -OH at 6,7 substitution of THIs also shows -adrenoceptor activities. In the present study, we investigated whether -OH or -OCH3... -

Characteristic Intracelluar Response to Lidocaine And MK-801 of Hippocampal Neurons An In Vivo Intracellular Neuron Recording Study
Byung-JuChoiJin-HwaCho 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 9 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 1998, Vol.2 No.3 4 297-305 (9 pages)
This study used in vivo intracellular recording in rat hippocampus to evaluate the effect of lidocaine and MK-801 on the membrane properties and the synaptic responses of individual neurons to electrical stimulation of the commissural pathway. Cells in control group typically fired in a tonic discharge mode with an average firing frequency of 2.4⁑0.9 Hz. Neuron in MK-801 treated group (0.2 mg/kg, i.p.) had an average input resistance of 32.8⁑5.7 MΩ and a membrane time constant of... -
Effect of K+-channel Blockers on the Muscarinic- and A1-adenosine- Receptor Coupled Regulation of Electrically Evoked Acetylcholine Release in the Rat Hippocampus
ByungSikYu, DoKyungKim, BongKyuChoi 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 8 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 1998, Vol.2 No.2 2 147-154 (8 pages)
It was attempted to clarify the participation of K+-channels in the post-receptor mechanisms of the muscarinic and A1-adenosine receptor- mediated control of acetylcholine (ACh) release in the present study. Slices from the rat hippocampus were equilibrated with [3H]choline and the release of the labelled products was evoked by electrical stimulation (3 Hz, 5 V/cm, 2 ms, rectangular pulses), and the influence of various agents on the evoked tritium-outflow was investigated. Oxotremorine (Oxo,...
