가야는 변한의 ‘국’에서 발전한 국가적 성격의 정치체이며, 그 중심지는 ‘국읍’이었다. 본고에서는 이 국읍의 실체를 초기국가의 도성으로 발전해 가는 도시로 상정하였다. 이러한 국읍의 경관구조와 그 의미를 살펴보기 위해 가야 정치체를 대표하는 가락국 국읍의 경관을 분석하였다. 가락국의 국읍은 김해 봉황동유적과 대성동고분군이 위치한 김해분지를 중심으로 형성되어 있었으며, 3세기후반~5세기전후에 도시 경관이 완성된 것으로 보인다. 경관구조는 왕궁을 중심으로 거주역-토성-경작지-묘역-초지·산지-하위취락이 배치된...
