1 163-169 (7 pages)
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of vibration resistance exercise (VRE) in patients with tennis elbow on strength, range of motion (ROM), function, pain and quality of life (QOL). Design: Randomized controlled trial. Methods: Twenty-seven participants were randomly assigned to either the VRE group (n=9), weight resistance exercise (WRE) group (n=9) or control group (n=9). Each group underwent hot compress for 15 minutes and electrotherapy for 15 minutes. The... -

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of providing visual feedback and auditory stimulation using a robotic device on balance and gait abilities in stroke patients. Design: Randomized controlled pilot trial. Methods: Fifteen subjects were randomly divided into three groups where five subjects were in the visual feedback robotic device assist gait training (VRGT) group, five subjects in the auditory stimulation robotic device assist gait training (ARGT) group, and... -
Comparison on postural control between abdominal draw-in maneuver and abdominal expansion maneuver in persons with stroke
Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 7 Pages
1 113-119 (7 pages)
Objective: The effect of abdominal expansion maneuver (AEM) and abdominal draw-in maneuver (ADIM) on postural control in an unsupported position in stroke patients. Design: Randomized controlled trial. Methods: A total of 36 persons with hemiplegic stroke participated in this study. The subjects were randomly divided into an AEM experimental group (n=12), an experimental ADIM group (n=12), and a control group (n=12). We collected the general characteristics of all subjects and the pre-test... -
Effects of hand grip strength on shoulder muscle activity in breast cancer patients
Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 6 Pages
7 95-100 (6 pages)
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of hand grip strength on the muscle activation of shoulder joint in breast cancer patients. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Ten breast cancer patients who agreed to active participation were included. These patients were operated with either conservative surgery or segmental mastectomy, and then were treated with radiation therapy and chemotherapy. The activity of the upper trapezius, lower trapezius, supraspinatus and... -
Comparison of multifidus and external oblique abdominis activity in standing position according to the contraction patterns of the gluteus maximus
Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 7 Pages
7 40-46 (7 pages)
Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect on multifidus and external oblique abdominis muscle activation during hip contraction of three types (concentric, isometric, eccentric) in standing position. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Twenty healthy adult men volunteered to participate in this study. Muscle activation was recorded from gluteus maximus, both multifidus, and both external oblique abdominis by surface electromyography (EMG) while holding position in the... -
The effect of treadmill gait training with patellar taping on gait abilities in chronic stroke patients
Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 9 Pages
6 94-102 (9 pages)
a significant difference in gait performance in the experimental group compared with the control group, except for the gait symmetry ratio (p<0.05). Conclusions: According to this result of this study, it seems that application of patellar taping in treadmill gait training for chronic stroke patients significantly improved gait abilities of these patients. Also, we can conclude that patella taping is thought to be useful in real clinical settings where there are many chronic patients who are in... -
The effects of motor imagery training on brain waves in persons post-stroke
Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 10 Pages
1 1-10 (10 pages)
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether motor imagery training (MIT) combined with physical training could have a positive influence on brain waves in stroke patients. Design: Randomized controlled trial. Methods: Twenty-four survivors of a first-time stroke participated in the study. All patients were randomly assigned to one of two groups: (1) MIT group (n=12) and (2) control group (n=12). The MIT group participated in a total of 30 minutes of motor imagery (MI) on each... -

10 55-62 (8 pages)
TUG, BBS was seen in both groups after intervention (p<0.05). A significant increase in gait ability was seen in the AWG after intervention (p<0.05). For balance and gait ability, the results from the AWG was significantly improved compared with the NAWG (p<0.05). Conclusions: Gait training with additional weight improves balance ability and gait ability in stroke patients, this gait training method is effective and suitable for stroke patients to increase the ability of functional performance.
