대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2017, 제 18권 제 4호 14 541-545 (5 pages)
In this study, we examine prevalences of three infectious pathogens with different transmission modes (Bartonella henselae, hemoplasma, and Toxoplasma gondii) in feral cats from urban and rural habitats. Infection status of the three pathogens in blood samples (n = 117) was determined through molecular or serological diagnostic methods. Overall prevalence of hemoplasma, Toxoplasma gondii, and Bartonella henselae was 47.9%, 50%, and 35.7%, respectively. Comparing the two habitats, only... -

HCC were investigated by using HBV X-protein-overexpressing Huh7 (Huh7-HBx) human hepatoma cells. MTT assay showed that resveratrol decreased cell viability. Fluorescence-activated cell-sorter analysis showed that resveratrol induced G1 cell cycle arrest without increasing the sub-G1 phase cell population. Therefore, we evaluated its effect on regulation of cyclin D1, which is critically involved in G1/S transition. Resveratrol lowered cyclin D1 transcription. Western blot analysis of the... -

Jae-Gyun Choi, Jae-Min Kim, Dong-Wook Kang, Jung-Wan Choi, Jin Bong Park, Seong-Hun Ahn, Yeonhee Ryu, Hyun-Woo Kim 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2017, 제 18권 제 3호 2 267-272 (6 pages)
The incidence of lung cancer has rapidly increased and cancer patients at a later cancer stage frequently suffer from unbearable cancer-associated pain. However, the pathophysiology of lung cancer pain has not been fully described due to a lack of appropriate animal models. This study was designed to determine the effect of Lewis lung carcinoma (LLC) cell inoculation on formalin-induced pain behavior and spinal Fos expression in C57BL/6 mice. LLC cells (1.5 × 10, 2.5 × 10, 3.0 × 10 or 5.0 ×... -

Well characterized, stable, p16-defective canine mammary cancer (CMT) cell lines and normal canine mammary epithelial cells were used to investigate expression of the major breast cancer-specific hormone receptors estrogen receptor alpha (ER1) and progesterone receptor (PR) as well as luminal epithelial-specific proto-oncogenes encoding c-erbB-1 (epidermal growth factor receptor/EGFr), c-erbB-2/HER2, c-erbB-3, and c-erbB-4 receptors. The investigation developed and validated quantitative reverse... -
Neuronal maturation in the hippocampal dentate gyrus via chronic oral administration of Artemisa annua extract is independent of cyclooxygenase 2 signaling pathway in diet-induced obesity mouse model
Hye Kyung Baek, Pan Soo Kim, Ji Ae Song, Dong-Hwa Choi, Do Eun Kim, Seung Il Oh, Sang-Kyu Park, Sung-Jo Kim, Ki-Duk Song, In Koo 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 9 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2017, 제 18권 제 2호 1 119-127 (9 pages)
Recently, we reported that Artemisia annua (AA) has anti-adipogenic properties in vitro and in vivo. Reduction of adipogenesis by AA treatment may dampen systemic inflammation and protect neurons from cytokine-induced damage. Therefore, the present study was undertaken to assess whether AA increases neuronal maturation by reducing inflammatory responses, such as those mediated by cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2). Mice were fed normal chow or a high-fat diet with or without chronic daily oral... -
Inflammation affects the viability and plasticity of equine mesenchymal stem cells: possible implications in intra-articular treatments
Laura Barrachina, Ana Rosa Remacha, Antonio Romero, Francisco Jos? V?zquez, Jorge Albareda, Marta Prades, Beatriz Ranera, Pilar 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 11 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2017, 제 18권 제 1호 6 39-49 (11 pages)
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are gaining relevance for treating equine joint injuries because of their ability to limit inflammation and stimulate regeneration. Because inflammation activates MSC immunoregulatory function, proinflammatory priming could improve MSC efficacy. However, inflammatory molecules present in synovial fluid or added to the culture medium might have deleterious effects on MSCs. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the effects of inflammatory synovial fluid... -
Tick-borne rickettsial pathogens in questing ticks, removed from humans and animals in Mexico
Carolina G. Sosa-Gutierrez, Margarita Vargas-Sandoval, Javier Torres, Guadalupe Gordillo-P?rez 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages

at 101 sites in 22 of the 32 states of Mexico. Collected ticks were placed in 1.5 mL cryovials containing 70% ethanol and were identified to species. Ticks were pooled according to location/host of collection, date of collection, sex, and stage of development. A total of 51 ticks were assayed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to confirm species identification using morphological methods. A total of 477 pools of ticks were assayed using PCR techniques for selected tick-borne pathogens. Anaplasma... -

avian T cells (MSB1-SiRNA-3) were established by introducing short interfering RNA (SiRNA) targeting chicken prion protein genes. We found that downregulation of chPrPinhibits proliferation, invasion, and migration, and induces G1 cell cycle phase arrest and apoptosis of MSB1-SiRNA-3 cells compared with Marek’s disease virus-transformed avian T cells (MSB1) and negative control cells. To the best of our knowledge, the present study provides the first evidence supporting the positive correlation... -

a major concern during drug development. Recently, multiple circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) have been reported to be potential biomarkers for DILI. To adapt and validate miRNAs for clinical use, we investigated the time-course changes in miR-122 expression levels in an acetaminophen-induced liver injury model in rats. In addition, miR-155 and miR-21 were evaluated as makers of inflammation and regeneration, respectively, to characterize liver status. Our results revealed that miR-122 is an early... -
