Disappearance of pericardial effusion by suspected pericardial-pleural fistula in a Miniature Schnauzer dog
Hakhyun Kim, Ji-Houn Kang, Dongwoo Chang 대한수의학회 Korean Journal of Veterinary Research(구 대한수의학회지) 4 Pages
10 115-118 (4 pages)
However, the clinical signs associated with acute collapse recurred. After the second pericardiocentesis, thoracic radiographs revealed pleural effusion, and the clinical signs resolved rapidly. The dog underwent pleural aspiration. Analysis of pleural fluid revealed almost similar features as the previous pericardial fluid. It was possible that a pericardial-pleural fistula was created during the pericardiocentesis. The pericardial and pleural effusion disappeared after the procedures. -

The Structural Time Relationship between the Rhythmical Characteristics of Minimal Music and Film Elements shown in the Film ‘Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters’
36 Pages
8 135-170 (36 pages)
THE INFLUENCE OF STABILIZATION SPLINT ON CONDYLAR POSITION AND CRANIOFACIAL MORPHOLOGY
Young Jooh Yoon, Kwang Won Kim 대한치과교정학회 The Korean Journal of Orthodontics 14 Pages
The Korean Journal of Orthodontics 1995, 제 25권 제 6호 3 675-688 (14 pages)
The purposes of this study were: 1) to determine the? normal range of CR-CO discrepancy in normal occlusion group: 2) to evaluate the changes of condylar position and craniofacial morphology between centric relation and centric occlusion before and after stabilization splint therapy in malocclusion group outside the normal range of CR-CO discrepancy. The normal occlusion group consisted of 80 subjects who had well-balanced faces and good occlusions with acceptable Class I molar relationship.... -
DA-6034 Induces [Ca2+]i Increase in Epithelial Cells
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2014, Vol.18 No.2 1 89-94 (6 pages)
DA-6034, a eupatilin derivative of flavonoid, has shown potent effects on the protection of gastric mucosa and induced the increases in fluid and glycoprotein secretion in human and rat corneal and conjunctival cells, suggesting that it might be considered as a drug for the treatment of dry eye. However, whether DA-6034 induces Ca2+ signaling and its underlying mechanism in epithelial cells are not known. In the present study, we investigated the mechanism for actions of DA-6034 in Ca2+... -
Electrically-evoked Neural Activities of rd1 Mice Retinal Ganglion Cells by Repetitive Pulse Stimulation
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2009, Vol.13 No.6 6 443-448 (6 pages)
For successful visual perception by visual prosthesis using electrical stimulation, it is essential to develop an effective stimulation strategy based on understanding of retinal ganglion cell (RGC) responses to electrical stimulation. We studied RGC responses to repetitive electrical stimulation pulses to develop a stimulation strategy using stimulation pulse frequency modulation. Retinal patches of photoreceptor-degenerated retinas from rd1 mice were attached to a planar multi-electrode array... -
Electrophysiological Characterization of AMPA and NMDA Receptors in Rat Dorsal Striatum
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2009, Vol.13 No.3 11 209-214 (6 pages)
The striatum receives glutamatergic afferents from the cortex and thalamus, and these synaptic transmissions are mediated byՁ-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionate (AMPA) and N-methyl- D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors. The purpose of this study was to characterize glutamate receptors by analyzing NMDA/AMPA ratio and rectification of AMPA and NMDA excitatory postsynaptic currents (EPSCs) using a whole-cell voltage-clamp method in the dorsal striatum. Receptor antagonists were used to... -
Heat Acclimatization in Hot Summer for Ten Weeks Suppress the Sensitivity of Sweating in Response to Iontophoretically-administered Acetylcholine
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 8 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2008, Vol.12 No.6 10 349-356 (8 pages)
To determine the peripheral mechanisms involved in thermal sweating during the hot summers in July before acclimatization and after acclimatization in September, we evaluated the sweating response of healthy subjects (n=10) to acetylcholine (ACh), a primary neurotransmitter involved in peripheral sudomotor sensitivity. The quantitative sudomotor axon reflex test (QSART) measures sympathetic C fiber function after iontophoresed ACh evokes a measurable reliable sweat response. The QSART, at 2 mA... -
Effects of NOS Inhibitors on Arthritis and Arthritic Pain in Rats
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2007, Vol.11 No.6 4 253-258 (6 pages)
Among the arthritis symptoms, chronic pain is the most serious, and it can profoundly affect the quality of human life. Unfortunately, the mechanism of development in arthritis and arthritic pain has not yet been precisely elucidated. Accumulating evidence indicates that nitric oxide (NO) plays a pivotal role in nociceptive processing in the spinal cord. However, the modulation mechanism of NO in the peripheral site of arthritis and arthritic pain has not been clarified. Therefore, I determined...
