The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2013, Vol.17 No.3 9 237-243 (7 pages)
B13 is a ceramide analogue and apoptosis inducer with potent cytotoxic activity. A series of arylpropyl sulfonamide analogues of B13 were evaluated for their cytotoxicity using MTT assays in prostate cancer PC-3 and leukemia HL-60 cell lines. Some compounds (4, 9, 13, 14, 15, and 20) showed stronger activities than B13 in both tumor cell lines, and compound (15) gave the most potent activity with IC50 values of 29.2 and 20.7 ՌM, for PC-3and HL-60 cells, respectively. Three-dimensional... -
Cytotoxicities and Quantitative Structure Activity Relationships of B13 Sulfonamides in HT-29 and A549 Cells
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 8 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2011, Vol.15 No.6 14 423-430 (8 pages)
B13 analogues are being considered as therapeutic agents for cancer cells, since B13 is a ceramide analogue and inhibits ceramidase to promote apoptosis in cancer cells. B13 sulfonamides are assumed to have biological activity similar to B13, since they are made by bioisosterically substituting the carboxyl moiety of B13 with sulfone group. Twenty B13 sulfonamides were evaluated for their in vitro cytotoxicities against human colon cancer HT-29 and lung cancer A549 cell lines using MTT assays.... -

The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2010, Vol.14 No.6 14 441-447 (7 pages)
B13, a ceramide analogue, is a ceramidase inhibitor and induces apoptosis to give potent anticancer activity. A series of thiourea B13 analogues was evaluated for their in vitro cytotoxic activities against human renal cancer Caki-2 and leukemic cancer HL-60 in the MTT assay. Some compounds (12, 15, and 16) showed stronger cytotoxicity than B13 and C6-ceramide against both tumor cell lines, and compound (12) gave the most potent activity with IC50 values of 36 and 9ՌM,... -
The Effect of Extracellular Glutamate Release on Repetitive Transient Ischemic Injury in Global Ischemia Model
GiJaLee, SeokKeunChoi, YunHyeEo, SungWookKang, SamjinChoi, JeongHoonPark, JiEunLim, KyungWonHong, HyunSeokJin, BermSeokOh, HunKukPark 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 4 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2009, Vol.13 No.1 4 23-26 (4 pages)
During operations, neurosurgeons usually perform multiple temporary occlusions of parental artery, possibly resulting in the neuronal damage. It is generally thought that neuronal damage by cerebral ischemia is associated with extracellular concentrations of the excitatory amino acids. In this study, we measured the dynamics of extracellular glutamate release in 11 vessel occlusion (VO) model to compare between single occlusion and repeated transient occlusions within short interval. Changes in... -
Post-ischemic Time-dependent Activity Changes of Hippocampal CA1 cells of the Mongolian Gerbils
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 4 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2007, Vol.11 No.6 3 249-252 (4 pages)
surgery, neither spontaneous neuronal activities (5.70±0.4 Hz) nor the number of recorded neurons per animal changed significantly for six days. Correlative firings among simultaneously recorded neurons were weak (correlation coefficient >0.6) in the control animals. Animals subjected to ischemia exhibited a significant elevation of neural firing at post-ischemic 12 hr (9.95±0.9 Hz) and day 1 (8.48± 0.8 Hz), but a significant depression of activity at post-ischemic day 6... -
Mechanism of Acetylcholine-induced Endothelium-dependent Relaxation in the Rabbit Carotid Artery by M3-receptor Activation
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2004, Vol.8 No.6 4 313-318 (6 pages)
The present study were designed to characterize the action mechanisms of acetylcholine (ACh)- induced endothelium-dependent relaxation in arteries precontracted with high K (70 mM). For this, we simultaneously measured both muscle tension and cytosolic free Ca2 concentration ([Ca2]i), using fura-2, in endothelium-intact, rabbit carotid arterial strips. In the artery with endothelium, high K increased both [Ca2]i and muscle tension whereas ACh (10μM)... -
Effects of Local Anesthetics on Rotational Mobility of n-(9-Anthroyloxy)stearic Acid in Neuronal Membranes
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2003, Vol.7 No.3 1 119-124 (6 pages)
To elucidate the molecular mechanism of pharmacological action of local anesthetics, we studied membrane actions of tetracaine, bupivacaine, lidocaine, prilocaine and procaine. Fluorescence polarization of n-(9-anthroyloxy)stearic acid (n-AS) was used to examine the effects of these local anesthetics on differential rotational mobility of different positions of the number of synaptosomal plasma membrane vesicle (SPMV) phospholipid carbon atoms. The four membrane components differed with respect... -

The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 15 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 1997, Vol.1 No.2 7 169-183 (15 pages)
We have investigated the two types of voltage-dependent outward potassium (K) currents, i.e. delayed rectifier K current (IK(V)) and 'A-like' transient outward K current (Ito) with patch-clamp technique in single smooth muscle cells (SMCs) isolated from rabbit basilar artery, and investigated the characteristics of them. The time-courses of activation were well fitted by exponential function raised to second power (n2) in IK(v) and fourth power (n4) in Ito. The activation, inactivation and...
