Effect of probiotic containing Saccharomyces boulardii on experimental ochratoxicosis in broilers: hematobiochemical studies
S. B. Agawane, P. S. Lonkar 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 9 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2004, 제 5권 제 4호 12 359-367 (9 pages)
In the present investigation, the toxicopathological effects of ochratoxin A of 0.5 ppm on hematobiochemical parameters of broilers were studied with efficacy of dietary concentration of probiotic containing yeast culture Saccharomyces boulardii of 10 mg/kg of feed. One hundred twenty day old chicks were randomly divided into four groups, thirty chicks each. Groups A and C chicks were offered normal feed and that added with probiotic Saccharomyces boulardii respectively. The birds in group B... -
Application of biotechnological tools for coccidia vaccine development
Wongi Min, Rami A. Dalloul, Hyun S. Lillehoj 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 10 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2004, 제 5권 제 4호 1 279-288 (10 pages)
Coccidiosis is a ubiquitous intestinal protozoan infection of poultry seriously impairing the growth and feed utilization of infected animals. Conventional disease control strategies have relied on prophylactic medication. Due to the continual emergence of drug resistant parasites in the field and increasing incidence of broiler condemnations due to coccidia, novel approaches are urgently needed to reduce economic losses. Understanding the basic biology of host-parasite interactions and... -
Effects of Corticosteroid and Electroacupuncture on Experimental Spinal Cord Injury in Dogs
jung-whan Yang, Seong-mok Jeong, Kang-moon Seo, Tchi-chou Nam 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2003, 제 4권 제 1호 15 97-101 (5 pages)
The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of electroacupuncture, corticosteroid, and combination of two treatments on ambulatory paresis due to spinal cord injury in dogs by comparing therapeutic effects of electroacupuncture and corticosteroid. Spinal cord injury was induced in twenty healthy dogs (2.5-7 kg and 2-4 years) by foreign body insertion which compressed about 25% of spinal cord. There was no conscious proprioception, no extensor postural thrust, and ambulatory. Dogs were... -
The Effects of Korean Red Ginseng (Ginseng Radix Rubra) on Liver Regeneration after Partial Hepatectomy in Dogs
Young-sam Kwon, Kwang-ho Jang, In-ho Jang 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 10 Pages

within normal ranges except leukocyte counts for 3 days postoperatively. The levels of AST and ALT in the treated groups were significantly decreased compared to that in the control group (p<0.05). The numbers of degenerative cells and area of connective tissue were significantly decreased in the liver of the dog with KRG administration (p<0.01). On the basis of these results, we could conclude that KRG accelerate the liver regeneration and ameliorate the liver injury after hepatectomy in dogs. -
Effect of Reproductive Status on In Vitro Developmental Competence of Bovine Oocytes
Kazim R. Chohan, Alan G. Hunter 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2003, 제 4권 제 1호 10 67-72 (6 pages)
The objectives of the present study were to compare the in vitro maturation (IVM), fertilization and early embryonic development of bovine oocytes recovered from ovaries during the follicular, metestrus and diestrus stages of the estrous cycle and at anestrus and pregnancy after maturation in a serum free culture medium. Cumulus oocyte complexes (COCs) collected from ovaries at different reproductive statuses were matured in medium 199 supplemented with 10 g/ml FSH, 10 g/ml LH, 1.5 g/m... -
Effects of Electroacupuncture on Minimum Alveolar Concentration of Isoflurane and Cardiovascular System in Isoflurane Anesthetized Dogs
Seong-Mok Jeong 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 9 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2002, 제 3권 제 3호 8 193-201 (9 pages)
The effects of electroacupuncture (EA) on the minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) and on the cardiovascular system were evaluated with dogs under isoflurane anesthesia. Eight healthy male beagles were randomly assigned to six study groups (five heads/group) with washout intervals of 7 ~ 31 days between experiments for recovery and anesthetic clearance. MAC of isoflurane and cardiovascular parameters were determined after EA at nonacupoint and and at acupoints LI-4, SP-6, ST-36 and TH-8.... -
Dose-Incidence Relationships on the Prenatal Effects of Gamma-Radiation in Mice
Sung Ho Kim, Jong Hwan Lee, Yun Sil Lee, Cha Soo Lee, Tae Hwan Kim, Se Ra Kim, Dae Won Bang, Heon Oh 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2002, 제 3권 제 1호 2 7-11 (5 pages)
The objective of this investigation was to evaluate dose-incidence relationships on the prenatal effects of gamma-radiation. Pregnant ICR mice were exposed on day 11.5 after conception, coincident with the most sensitive stage for the induction of major congenital malformations, with 0.5-4.0 Gy of gamma- radiations. The animals were sacrificed on day 18 of gestation and the fetuses were examined for mortality, growth retardation, change in head size and any other morphological abnormalities.... -
Effect of fever on pharmacokinetics and dosage regimen of intramuscularly administered amikacin in goats
A. K. Agrawal, S. D. Singh, C. Jayachandran 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2001, 제 2권 제 2호 4 91-96 (6 pages)
A comparative pharmacokinetic study of amikacin (10 mg/kg intramuscular) by microbiological assay method in normal and experimentally induced febrile goats revealed that the plasma drug concentrations were significantly higher in febrile condition at most of the time intervals. Various pharmacokinetic parameters like t(1/2), AUC, AUMC, MRT and Vd(area) were significantly higher whereas total body clearance (Cl(B)) was significantly lower in febrile goats as compared to normal goats. Absorption... -
Influence of gestational age at exposure on the prenatal effects of gamma-radiation
Sung-ho Kim, Se-ra Kim, Yun-sil Lee, Tae-hwan Kim, Sung-kee Jo, Cha-soo Lee 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2001, 제 2권 제 1호 6 37-42 (6 pages)
The objective of this investigation was to evaluate the influence of gestational age at exposure on the prenatal effects of gamma-radiation. Pregnant ICR mice were exposed to a single dose of 2.0 Gy gamma-radiation at a gestational 2.5 to 15.5 days post-coitus (p.c.). The animals were sacrificed on day 18 of gestation and the fetuses were examined for mortality, growth retardation, change in head size and any other morphological abnormalities. The only demonstrable effect of irradiation during... -

separately fenced area. All three affected mares had fully recovered from their laminitic condition. Prevention of grass laminitis can be achieved by the following measures: 1. Reduction in grass intake could be achieved by increasing the grazing pressure by an increase in stocking rate of the horses or mixed grazing with another species such as sheep. 2. A longer term solution to the problem may well be to sow specific varieties of grass with lower concentrations of water soluble carbohydrate.
