A comparative study of the angles between crown axis and root axis in mesiodistal direction by using orthopantomogram
The Korean Journal of Orthodontics 10 Pages
The Korean Journal of Orthodontics 1996, 제 26권 제 6호 2 657-666 (10 pages)
Orthopantomogram is commonly used to evaluate root parallelism. “Good parallelism” between roots is widely accepted as one of the guidelines of a successful orthodontic treatment. In case there was a large angle between crown axis and root axis, and if we valued only the position of crown in establishing occlusal relationship without considering of the situation of root, the problem of root arrangement between adjacent teeth would be occurred. The estimate of root parallelism in mesiodistal... -

The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2018, Vol.22 No.5 13 597-605 (9 pages)
In this study, we demonstrated the inhibitory effect of the Class Ic antiarrhythmic agent propafenone on voltage-dependent K+ (Kv) channels using freshly isolated coronary artery smooth muscle cells from rabbits. The Kv current amplitude was progressively inhibited by propafenone in a dose-dependent manner, with an apparent IC50 value of 5.04±1.05 μM and a Hill coefficient of 0.78±0.06. The application of propafenone had no significant effect on the steady-state activation and inactivation... -

Etoricoxib features antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties concomitantly, suggesting that it may be beneficial in testicular ischemia reperfusion (I/R) damage. Our aim is to investigate the effects of etoricoxib on testicular I/R damage induced with torsion-detorsion (TD). The etoricoxib + torsion-detorsion (ETD) groups of animals were given etoricoxib in 50 and 100 mg/kg of body weight (ETD-50 and ETD-100), while the testes torsion-detorsion (TTD) and sham operation rat group (SOG)... -
Effect of Neurosteroid Modulation on Global Ischaemia-Reperfusion-Induced Cerebral Injury in Mice
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 8 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2013, Vol.17 No.6 2 485-492 (8 pages)
The present study was designed to investigate the putative effect of neurosteroid modulation on global ischaemia-reperfusion-induced cerebral injury in mice. Bilateral carotid artery occlusion followed by reperfusion, produced a significant rise in cerebral infarct size along with impairment of grip strength and motor coordination in Swiss albino mice. Administration of carbamazepine (16 mg/kg, i.p.) before global cerebral ischaemia significantly attenuated cerebral infarct size and improved the... -
Nitric Oxide-mediated Relaxation by High K+ in Human Gastric Longitudinal Smooth Muscle
YoungChulKim, WoongChoi, Hyo-YoungYun, RohyunSung, RaYoungYoo, Seon-MeePark, SeiJinYun, Mi-JungKim, Young-JinSong, Wen-XieXu, SangJinLee 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 10 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2011, Vol.15 No.6 12 405-414 (10 pages)
ced relaxation was observed in gastric corpus of human stomach, but only in the longitudinal muscles from greater curvature not lesser curvature. L-NNA, ODQ and KV channel blocker sensitive high K+-induced relaxation in longitudinal muscle of higher portion of corpus was also observed. These results suggest that longitudinal smooth muscle from greater curvature of gastric corpus produced high K+-induced relaxation which was activated by NO/sGC pathway and by KV channel dependent mechanism. -
Direct Corticosteroid Modulation of GABAergic Neurons in the Anterior Hypothalamic Area of GAD65-eGFP Mice

The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2011, Vol.15 No.3 7 163-169 (7 pages)
Corticosterone is known to modulate GABAergic synaptic transmission in the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus. However, the underlying receptor mechanisms are largely unknown. In the anterior hypothalamic area (AHA), the sympathoinhibitory center that project GABAergic neurons onto the PVN, we examined the expression of glucocorticoid receptor (GR) and mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) of GABAergic neurons using intact GAD65-eGFP transgenic mice, and the effects of corticosterone on the burst... -
Regulation of DREAM Expression by Group I mGluR
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2011, Vol.15 No.2 4 95-100 (6 pages)
DREAM (downstream regulatory element antagonistic modulator) is a calcium-binding protein that regulates dynorphin expression, promotes potassium channel surface expression, and enhances presenilin processing in an expression level-dependent manner. However, no molecular mechanism has yet explained how protein levels of DREAM are regulated. Here we identified group I mGluR (mGluR1/5) as a positive regulator of DREAM protein expression. Overexpression of mGluR1/5 increased the cellular level of... -
The Development of Phasic and Tonic Inhibition in the Rat Visual Cortex
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 8 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2010, Vol.14 No.6 8 399-406 (8 pages)
Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-ergic inhibition is important in the function of the visual cortex. In a previous study, we reported a developmental increase in GABAA receptor-mediated inhibition in the rat visual cortex from 3 to 5 weeks of age. Because this developmental increase is crucial to the regulation of the induction of long-term synaptic plasticity, in the present study we investigated in detail the postnatal development of phasic and tonic inhibition. The amplitude of phasic... -
Knockdown of RCAN1.4 Increases Susceptibility to FAS-mediated and DNA-damage-induced Apoptosis by Upregulation of p53 Expression

The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2009, Vol.13 No.6 12 483-489 (7 pages)
Despite the potential importance of the human regulator of calcineurin 1 (RCAN-1) gene in the modulation of cell survival under stress, little is known about its role in death-inducing signal pathways. In this study, we addressed the effects of RCAN1.4 knockdown on cellular susceptibility to apoptosis and the activation of death pathway proteins. Transfection of siRNAs against RCAN1.4 resulted in enhanced Fas- and etoposide-induced apoptosis, which was associated with increased expression and...
