Development of a Species-specific PCR Assay for Three Xanthomonas Species, Causing Bulb and Flower Diseases, Based on Their Genome Sequences
The Plant Pathology Journal 7 Pages
2 212-218 (7 pages)
In this study, we developed a species-specific PCR assay for rapid and accurate detection of three Xanthomonas species, X. axonopodis pv. poinsettiicola (XAP), X. hyacinthi (XH) and X. campestris pv. zantedeschiae (XCZ), based on their draft genome sequences. XAP, XH and XCZ genomes consist of single chromosomes that contain 5,221, 4,395 and 7,986 protein coding genes, respectively. Species-specific primers were designed from variable regions of the draft genome sequence data and assessed by a... -
Identification and Characterization of Expansins from Bursaphelenchus xylophilus (Nematoda: Aphelenchoididae)

loosening cell walls during infection. Quantitative real-time PCR analysis showed that the relative accumulation of Bx-EXPB3 mRNAs was the highest among the three Bx-EXPs examined and the order of mRNA accumulation was as follows: Bx-EXPB3 > Bx- EXPB2 >> Bx-EXPB1. Homology modeling of Bx- EXPBs showed that the structurally optimum template was EXLX1 protein of Bacillus subtilis, whichshared residues essential for catalytic activity with Bx-EXPB1 and Bx-EXPB2 except for Bx-EXPB3. Taken together,... -
Research Notes : Reclassification of Xanthomonas Isolates Causing Bacterial Leaf Spot of Euphorbia pulcherrima
The Plant Pathology Journal 7 Pages
9 360-366 (7 pages)
Bacterial leaf spot of Euphorbia pulcherrima has been reported in many countries. Characterization by polyphasic approaches indicated that the isolates from India, USA and New Zealand could be distinguished based on rep-PCR profiles and gyrB phylogenies, while the Chinese isolates should be ascribed to Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. poinsettiicola. -
Species-specific Detection of Erwinia pyrifoliae by PCR Assay Using Enterobacterial Repetivive Intergenic Consensus (ERIC) Primers
The Plant Pathology Journal 4 Pages
10 267-270 (4 pages)
We designed a sensitive and specific PCR-based method with enterobacterial repetitive intergenic consensus (ERIC) primer to detect Erwinia pyrifoliae, which cause shoot blight in Asian pear, from a mixed culture and infected plant materials. The primers specifically detected only E. pyrifoliae and showed no cross-reactivity with other bacterial phytopathogens. -
Development of Recombinant Coat Protein Antibody Based IC-RT-PCR and Comparison of its Sensitivity with Other Immunoassays for the Detection of Papaya Ringspot Virus Isolates from India
The Plant Pathology Journal 7 Pages
4 25-31 (7 pages)
Papaya ringspot virus (PRSV) causes the most widespread and devastating disease in papaya. Isolates of PRSV originating from different geographical regions in south India were collected and maintained on natural host papaya. The entire coat protein (CP) gene of Papaya ringspot virus-P biotype (PRSV-P) was amplified by RTPCR. The amplicon was inserted into pGEM-T vector, sequenced and sub cloned into a bacterial expression vector pRSET-A using a directional cloning strategy. The PRSV coat protein... -
Muscle Radiation Attenuation in the Erector Spinae and Multifidus Muscles as a Determinant of Survival in Patients with Gastric Cancer
An Soomin, Kim Youn-Jung, Han Ga Young, Eo Wankyu Journal of Korean Biological Nursing Science 9 Pages
Journal of Korean Biological Nursing Science 2022, Volume 24, No 1 2 17-25 (9 pages)
Purpose: To determine the prognostic role of muscle area and muscle radiation attenuation in the erector spinae (ES) and multifidus (MF) muscles in patients undergoing gastrectomy. Methods: Patients with stage I-III gastric cancer undergoing gastrectomy were retrospectively enrolled in this study. Clinicopathologic characteristics were collected and analyzed. Both paraspinal muscle index of ES/MF muscles (PMIEM) and paraspinal muscle radiation attenuation in the same muscles (PMRAEM) were... -
Effect of Environmental Enrichment on Cognitive Impairment-induced by Ethanol Exposure in Adolescent Rat
Yoon Ju Kim, Jong Min Park, Min Kyung Song, Ho Hyun Seong, Youn Jung Kim 한국기초간호학회 Journal of Korean Biological Nursing Science 6 Pages
Journal of Korean Biological Nursing Science 2016, Volume 18, No 4 10 274-279 (6 pages)
Purpose: Adolescents who experienced the alcohol consumption have gradually increased. Adolescence is a critical period of the neural plasticity in the brain. Neural plasticity is mediated by neurotrophins and has an impact on cognitive function. Environmental enrichment ameliorates the cognitive function and increases neurotrophins. Thus, we investigated the neuroprotective effect of environmental enrichment on ethanol induced cognitive impairment in adolescent rats. Methods: The ethanol groups... -
COVID-19 Pandemic, Mental Health, and Play for Young Children during and after Pandemic
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 20 Pages
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2022, Vol.16 No.1 6 93-112 (20 pages)
COVID-19 might not have severely threatened young children's physical health; however, it has had profound impacts on their sound development and mental health that could have long-lasting effects on their lives. It is not easy to foresee when this crisis will be over; yet young children’s development and learning cannot be stopped. Therefore, efforts to support young children, considering the impacts of the COVID-19 crisis, must be made immediately. The purposes of this study are to review the... -
Ethical Reflections of Interviewing Young Children:Opportunities and Challenges for PromotingChildren’s Inclusion and Participation
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 26 Pages
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2017, Vol.11 No.1 5 85-110 (26 pages)
This qualitative research synthesis aims to describe and identify ethical opportunities and challenges in interviewing young children in early childhood education and to explore interviewing as a means to bring forward children’s experiences of participation and inclusion. These objectives have been studied through two different research cases in the Finnish early childhood education and care settings with active learning approach. The identified opportunities were supporting to show emotions,... -
