A Simulation Study for Examining Roles of Sampling Weight in Multilevel Analysis with data from a Complex Survey Design
Jung Hyekyung, Park In-Yong 한국교육학회 교육학연구 21 Pages
한국교육학회 교육학연구 2021, 59권 7호 4 85-105 (21 pages)
a complex survey design for sampling. The goal of the study was to explore the benefit of weighted analysis in multilevel modeling. Large-scale data such as the NAEA data are often analyzed in multilevel analyses to reflect the nested data structure. A simulation study was conducted incorporating different conditions. Multilevel analysis results were compared without weights, with basic design weights, and with a raked weight, which were generated in consideration of explicit and implicit... -
Electrochemical determination of chloramphenicol using a glassy carbon electrode modified with dendrite-like Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles
Krishnan Giribabu, Sung-Chan Jang, Yuvaraj Haldorai, Muruganantham Rethinasabapathy, Seo Yeong Oh, Arunkumar Rengaraj, Young-Kyu Han 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 10 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.23 6 38-47 (10 pages)
given potential of -1.3 V for 180 s. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that dendrite-like Fe3O4 nanoparticles with a mean size of < 80 nm were electrodeposited on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The Fe3O4/GCE was utilized for sensing chloramphenicol (CAP) by cyclic voltammetry and square wave voltammetry. A reduction peak of CAP at the Fe3O4/GCE was observed at 0.62 V, whereas the uncoated GCE exhibited a very small response compared to that of the Fe3O4/GCE. The electrocatalytic ability of... -
Mechanical and electrical properties of cement paste incorporated with pitch-based carbon fiber
Inkyu Rhee, Jin Hee Kim, Sang Hee Park, Sungho Lee, Bong Ryeul Ryu, Yoong Ahm Kim 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 8 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.23 4 22-29 (8 pages)
The compressive strength and electrical resistance of pitch-based carbon fiber (CF) in cementitious materials are explored to determine the feasibility of its use as a functional material in construction. The most widely used CFs are manufactured from polyacrylonitrile (PAN-based CF). Alternatively, short CFs are obtained in an economical way using pitch as a precursor in a melt-blown process (pitch-based CF), which is cheaper and more eco-friendly method because this pitch-based CF is basically... -
Effect of acid catalysts on carbonization temperatures for ordered mesoporous carbon materials
Jeong Kuk Shon, Xing Jin, Yun Seok Choi, Jong Gu Won, Yoon Kyung Hwang, Dae Jong You, Chengbin Li, Ji Man Kim 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 6 Pages

in the presence of acid catalysts in low temperature ranges of 100°C?200°C. In the case of sucrose as a carbon source, sulfuric acid (H2SO4) is typically used as an acid catalyst for the dehydration and subsequent oligomerization of the carbon precursor. This is very important for preventing the infiltrated carbon precursors from draining outside the mesopores of the silica templates before the carbonization. The oligomeric carbon species are then carbonized at high temperature above 600°C. -
NO gas sensing ability of activated carbon fibers modified by an electron beam for improvement in the surface functional group
Mi-Seon Park, Sangmin Lee, Min-Jung Jung, Hyeong Gi Kim, Young-Seak Lee 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 7 Pages

pristine ACFs to 39.53% and 41.75% for ACFs treated with hydrogen peroxide and potassium hydroxide solutions, respectively. We discover that the NO gas sensitivity of the gas sensor fabricated using the modified ACFs as an electrode material is increased, although the specific surface area of the ACFs is decreased because of the recovery of their crystal structure. This is attributed to the static electric interaction between NO gas and the non-carbonyl groups introduced onto the ACF surfaces. -
The effect of the spinning conditions on the structure of mesophase pitch-based carbon fibers by Taguchi method
Zhao Jiang, Ting Ouyang, Xiangdong Yao, Youqing Fei 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 10 Pages

investigate the influence of four spinning variables. The relative importance of the variables has been emphasized for each characteristic. The results show that thicker carbon fiber can be obtained with a smaller entry angle, a higher spinning temperature, a reduced winding speed, and an increased extrusion pressure. The winding speed was found to be the most significant factor in relation to the fiber diameter. While it was observed that thicker carbon fiber generally shows improved preferred... -
Effect of fiber-matrix adhesion on the fracture behavior of a carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic-modified epoxy matrix

(3-glycidoxy propyl trimethoxysilane) coupling agent. Toughness was determined using the double cantilever test, together with surface analysis after failure using scanning electron microscope. The presence of polysulfone particles improved the fracture behavior of the composite, but fiber-matrix adhesion seemed to play a very important role in the performance of the composite material. There appeared to be a synergy between the matrix modifier and the fibermatrix adhesion coupling agent. -

used as reinforcing materials in advanced rubber composites. The mechanical properties of CB-reinforced rubber composites are mostly controlled by the extent of interfacial adhesion between the CBs and the rubber. Surface treatments are generally performed on CBs to introduce chemical functional groups on its surface. In this study, we review the effects of various surface treatment methods for CBs. In addition, the preparation and properties of CB-reinforced rubber composites are discussed. -
Photocatalytic performance of graphene/Ag/TiO₂ hybrid nanocomposites
Jong-Ho Lee, In-Ki Kim, Donghwan Cho, Jeong-Il Youn, Young-Jig Kim, Han-Jun Oh 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 8 Pages

improve photocatalytic efficiency, graphene/Ag/TiO₂ nanotube catalyst was synthesized, and its surface characteristics and photocatalytic activity investigated. For deposition of Ag nanoparticles on the TiO₂ nanotubes, a polymer compound containing CH₃COOAg/poly(Llactide) was utilized, and the silver particles were precipitated by reducing the silver ions during the annealing process. Graphene deposition on the Ag/TiO₂ nanotubes was achieved using an electrophoretic deposition process. Based... -
Breakthrough behaviour of activated charcoal cloth samples against oxygen analogue of sulphur mustard
G. K. Prasad, J. Praveen Kumar, P. V. R. K. Ramacharyulu and Beer Singh 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 6 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2015, Vol.16 No.1 3 19-24 (6 pages)
purpose. Breakthrough behaviour was found to depend on the properties of the activated charcoal cloth, properties of the OA and the adsorption conditions. Activated charcoal cloth with a high surface area of 1290 m2/g, relatively large surface density of 160 g/m2 and coarser fiber structure exhibited better kinetic saturation capacity value, 0.19 g/g, against OA vapours when compared to others, thus confirming its potential use in foldable masks for protection against chemical warfare agents.
