Effects of Insulin and IGFS on Growth and Functional Differentiation in Primary Cultured Rabbit Kidney Proximal Tubule Cells -Growth and membrane transport-
12 Pages
1 191-202 (12 pages)
The purpose of this study was to compare effects of insulin and IGFs on growth, apical membrane enzyme activities and membrane transport systems of primary cultured rabbit kidney proximal tubule cells. Results were as follows: 1. Insulin and IGF-I produced significant growth stimulatory effects at 5 X 10-10M. IGF-II(5 X 10 -10 M) did not stimulate significant cell growth. 2. Insulin stimulated the phosphorylation of a 97 KD protein. It was difficult to determine whether this band represents... -
Transformation of Rabbit Proximal Tubule Cells by Strontium Phosphate Transfection with a Plasmid Containing SV4O Early Region Genes
8 Pages
14 233-240 (8 pages)
In this study, it was investigated whether immortalized proximal tubule cells transformed with pRSVT could survive through the numerous passages. Results were as follows: 1. The cells transfected with pRSVT formed rapidly growing, multilayered colonies within 2 weeks in a hormone defined medium. Domes were also observed in some of the cultures. 2. r-glutamyl transpeptidase activity was equivalent to that observed in primary renal proximal tubule cell cultures. 3. Transformed cells with pRSVT... -

a coupling agent. The antisera were characterized by analysis of Scatchard and Sips plots. The antiserum LBE 2G/2 raised by repeat injection of the immunogen conjugated with carbodiimide showed the titer of 1 : 188,000, very low cross-reactivity to bombesin-like peptides except bombesin, with high affinity constant (1.64 X 1011 M-1) and high heterogeneity index (0.91). The antiserum LBG 1G/2 produced by repeat injection of the immunogen conjugated with glutaraldehyde possessed the titer of 1 :... -

weeks. The experimental sections were stained with hematoxylin and eosin for histopathologic analysis. Results: After 2 weeks, newly formed woven bone was seen. At four weeks, the bone was more mature than at 2 weeks. After 8 weeks, additional new bone formation was seen and much of the woven bone in the augmented space had been replaced by lamellar bone and fatty tissue. In the rhBMP-2 treated groups, for four weeks, histological findings were similar to those in the experimental group without... -
Correlation between bone quality evaluated by Cone-Beam Computerized Tomography and implant primary stability
Journal of Dental Implant Research 9 Pages
8 63-71 (9 pages)
Studies have shown that implants that are designed to osseointegration have a generally high success rate.1,2) This success is considered to be influenced by both the volume (quantity) and density (quality) of available bone for implant placement. Therefore, emphasis has been placed on the bone quantity and quality as important prerequisites of predictable implant success. -
Comparative Analyses of Four Complete Genomes in Pseudomonas amygdali Revealed Differential Adaptation to Hostile Environments and Secretion Systems
Hyejung Jung, Hong-Seop Kim, Gil Han, Jungwook Park, Young-Su Seo 한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 8 Pages
9 167-174 (8 pages)
Pseudomonas amygdali is a hemibiotrophic phytopathogen that causes disease in woody and herbaceous plants. Complete genomes of four P. amygdali pathovars were comparatively analyzed to decipher the impact of genomic diversity on host colonization. The pan-genome indicated that 3,928 core genes are conserved among pathovars, while 504-1,009 are unique to specific pathovars. The unique genome contained many mobile elements and exhibited a functional distribution different from the core genome.... -

compounds (VOCs). Crude enzymes, solvent extracts, and biosurfactants of the two strains exhibited antimicrobial activities. Liquid chromatography/electrospray ionization timeof- flight mass spectrometric analysis of the partially purified active fractions revealed that the two antagonists produced three cyclic lipopeptides, including iturin A, fengycin A, and surfactin, and a polyketide, oxydifficidin. In a detached leaf assay, pre-treatment and co-treatment of FC leaves with the CFCFs led to a... -
Inhibitory Effect of Chitosan and Phosphate Cross-linked Chitosan against Cucumber Mosaic Virus and Pepper Mild Mottle Virus

Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) and Pepper mild mot- tle virus (PMMoV) causes severe economic loss in crop productivity of both agriculture and horticulture crops in Korea. The previous surveys showed that naturally available biopolymer material – chitosan (CS), which is from shrimp cells, reduced CMV accumulation on pepper. To improve the antiviral activity of CS, it was synthesized to form phosphate cross-linked chitosan (PCS) and compared with the original CS. Initially, the activity of CS... -
Evaluation of Streptomyces saraciticas as Soil Amendments for Controlling Soil-Borne Plant Pathogens
Pei-Hsuan Wu, Tung-Tsuan Tsay, Peichen Chen 한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 11 Pages
9 596-606 (11 pages)
Soil-borne diseases are the major problems in mono cropping. A mixture (designated LTM-m) composed of agricultural wastes and a beneficial microorganism Streptomyces saraceticus SS31 was used as soil amendments to evaluate its efficacy for managing Rhizoctonia solani and root knot nematode (Meloidogyne incognita). In vitro antagonistic assays revealed that SS31 spore suspensions and culture broths effectively suppressed the growth of R. solani, reduced nematode egg hatching, and increased... -
Role of Trehalose Synthesis in Ralstonia syzygii subsp. indonesiensis PW1001 in Inducing Hypersensitive Response on Eggplant (Solanum melongena cv. Senryo-nigou)

Ralstonia syzygii subsp. indonesiensis (Rsi, former name: Ralstonia solanacearum phylotype IV) PW1001, a causal agent of potato wilt disease, induces hypersen- sitive response (HR) on its non-host eggplant (Solanum melongena cv. Senryo-nigou). The disaccharide treha- lose is involved in abiotic and biotic stress tolerance in many organisms. We found that trehalose is required for eliciting HR on eggplant by plant pathogen Rsi PW1001. In R. solanacearum, it is known that the OtsA/ OtsB pathway is...
