한국산 콩풍뎅이속 곤충에 대하여 분류학적으로 검토하였다. 국내에서는 Kolbe(1856)이후 13종(및 6 하종)이 기록되었으며, 이 중 8종은 이미 여러 학자들에 의하여 이명인 것으로 정리되었다. 그러나 나머지의 종들 중에서도 2종은 새로운 동물이명임이 발견되었으며 그중 1종은 국내에서 처음으로 기록되는 종명을 사용하여야 한다. 또한 과거의 많은 문헌들은 복부복판에 열생하는 모열의 수를 중요시하였는데 이 특징은 의미가 없음을 발견하였다. 현재까지 발견된 한국산 콩풍뎅이류는 2아종의 1종을 포함한 4종이었으며(P. mutans, flavosellata, formosana, quadriguttata quadriguttata와 q. japonica), 새로운 동물이명은 다음과 같다. Korean scarabaeids of the genus Popillia were reviewed taxonomically. They were recorded 13 species(and 6 infraspecies), and 8 of them were already revised to synonyms of remainders by several authors. But, 2 species are newly synonymized too, adding a newly registered name. Korean fauna is 4 species including 1 which has 2 subspecies (mutans, flavosellata, formosana, quadriguttata quadriguttata and q. japonica), and the number of hairy row on the sternites is not important for the classification of them.
