The reaction of 2,7-dihydroxynaphthalene with dimethylsulfate through many steps gave 2-(2,7-dimethoxy-1,8-naphthalimido)ethyl methacrylate (DMNIEM). polu(DMNIEM) was synthesized hy the radical polymerization of this monomer in dimethylformamide(DMF) using azobisisobutronitrile(AIBN) as a initiator at 60$^{circ}$C.
