The purpose of this study was to inspect the educational value of the backward curriculum through the preliminary teachers' recognitions gained by participating in the backward curriculum adapted gym class
To achieve this purpose, 6 students who understand the purpose and hoped to join in this study of their own will were selected as participants among the 3rd graders of D national university of education.
The preliminary teachers' recognitions were largely classified with 'anticipation' and 'challenging'. 'anticipation' fell into four categories, 'new world', 'lighthouse', 'step climbing' and 'molting'. And 'challenging' fell into two categories, 'self-confidence' and 'expert'.
First, students expressed that the backward curriculum adapted gym class was like a new world different from existing P.E classes.
Second, preliminary teachers compared the backward curriculum adapted gym class to 'light house' because it proposed distinct aim to them.
Third, preliminary teachers regarded the backward curriculum adapted gym class as a step that make them develop their gym skills stage by stage.
Fourth, preliminary teachers told that they could experience self-motivated learning like level skill practice, reflective thinking and effort through the backward curriculum adapted gym class.
Fifth, preliminary teachers thought that they got self-conficence in teaching students P.E. And they thought that they could increase their ability in guiding practical skills and be an expert in course content, curriculum and teaching method.
