This research placed its purpose on understanding the level of ego-resilience and emotional intelligence of the military personnel and
define the relationship among the two variables and adaptation to base, how their ability to control their personal emotion and
reaction to environmental demands effect their adaptation to base, how the relationship between the emotional intelligence and
ego-resilience effect adaptation to base. In this research we have set a hypothesis based on pervious researches on theories about
adaptation, ego-resilience, emotional intelligence, and their relationship through theoretical examination. In the empirical study to
verify and do factorial analysis, we have targeted the soldiers in an army military based located in 00area, from those who have
been stationed for more than 3 month to those who have less than 3 month till discharge. and we have distributed surveys and
gained data. The empirical study, with the reconstructed survey based on analysis results of the preliminary research, we gained
sample for 12th of November 2011, till 26th of November of the same year with the help of a military official, and the
researchers distributed the survey through direct interview, after the researcher explained the purpose of the research and gained their
consent. The gathered information, after data coding, was analyzed using SPSS/WIN 18.0 and AMOS 8.0 statics program. As for
the specific analysis method, we have done a frequency analysis to find out the average characteristics of the participants and gained
frequency and percentage, and conducted a t-test and ANOVA to find whethere there are differences in ego-resilience and emotional
intelligence according to average characteristics of a soldier. Also, in order to fin the relativeness of the each variables, we have
conducted a Pearson product moment correlation analysis, and did regression analysis with the ego-resilience and emotional
intelligence as the independent variable and adaptation to base as a dependent variable. Also, in order to find the mediated effect of
the emotion intelligence over the two variable, we have conducted a medicated effect analysis using the structural equation model
while placing the ego-resilience as a independent variable and base adapation to dependent variable. The results of the research are
the following. First, the emotion intelligence of a soldier showed meaningful difference according to rank and ego-resilience showed
difference in academic background and rank. Secondly, it was found that the emotional intelligence of a soldier has a positive effect
in adaptation. The emotional expression, a component of the emotional intelligence, seem to have the most effect in adaptation,
followed by emotion control, emotional awareness. Also empathy was found have a negative effect in adaptation. Third, the
ego-resilience of a soldier was found to have positive effect in a successful adaptation. In a relative influence of the emotional
intelligence and ego-resilience in adaptation to base, emotional express had the most effect followed by ego-resilience, and empathy.
Fourth, after researching the mediated effect of the emotional intelligence between the ego-resilience and adaptation, ego-resilience
was found to have both direct and indirect effect to the adaptation showing that ego-resilience effect the adaptation of a soldier
through emotional intelligence. After analyzing whether the mediated effect are partial or whole, the ego-resilience's direct effect on
adaptation was statistically nonsignificant and indirect effect of ego-resilience to adaptation through emotional intelligence was
significant, proving that the emotional intelligence has a whole mediated effect between ego-resilience and adaptation.
