Significant numbers of historic objects exhibited in the historical folklore
museums in Gangwaon Yeongdong region operated by the local government are
duplicated or borrowed, because they possess insufficient historical object.
Consequently, they have more portion of folklore objects than historical ones
and the space forms for exhibition are rather focussed on folklore objects. In
order to eliminate such unbalanced situation, the authority to manage the locally
excavated objects, which are now concentrated in national museums, should be
reinforced and such objects can be utilized in local public museums through
long-term rent, permanent rent or management transfer. Research and
investigation activities for the objects that contain the unique culture of a region
should be reinforced and, based on those results, collecting objects through
donation should be vitalized.
It is also necessary to carefully apply a classification system suitable to
historical folklore museum where historical objects and folklore objects are
coexisting and to vitalize the personal and material exchange between museums
by developing and popularizing an integrated collection management system
more reliable and compatible than the standard collection management system.
However, the prerequisite to be settled first is to establish a reorganization plan
for job classification as early as possible to secure various experts through
increasing the number of basic manpower of museum. And through a
reorganization for job classification, the experts necessary for museums can be
legally hired and deployed in museums as the experts for collection
management.
