Until these days, the massive research works on sewage sludge in worldwide are carried out, but essential basic researches on the volatile organic matters (VOCs) from the sewage sludge drying are not enough and some results of them are very limited in use due to the undefined analytical methods in volatile matters. Therefore, the basic research on the VOCs derived from the sewage sludge drying are carried out and obtained the results, which the VOCs released from the sewage sludge drying at 105℃ are Toluene, Styrene, Ethylbenzene, etc. They had come out during the 1hr to 5 hrs of drying time after the evaporation of moisture via thermal degradation of hydrocarbons, after that the concentration VOCs were decreased slowly. This research works were carried out using sewage sludge of Daejeon metropolitan city sewage treatment plant.
