The pyrolysis gasification/melting process for the municipal, industrial and other kinds of wastes has
been developed by Institute for Advanced Engineering (IAE) and Daewoo E&C CO. in order to make
available a thermal waste treatment technology avoiding major environmental problems that are known in
traditional techniques like landfills or incineration. The process is based upon the ThermoselectTM system
that consists of steps for compression, degassing with fixed bed oxygen blown gasification, and melting of
mineral residues. The syngas exiting from the high temperature reactor with a high temperature is cooled
under about 100 ℃ in the quench scrubber by jets of water, and is purified in wet type scrubbers. For the
gas cooling and purification, it is used water, so in this study for the reuse of water after syngas cooling
and cleaning, it is installed cooling and cleaning water recycling system. As the test result, the removable
efficiency of SS is 99.4% and color and several heavy metals is removed.
