It has been 65 years since the end of the Korean War, but Korea is still under constant security threats. Therefore, it is necessary for Korea to thank and repay the UN forces and veterans who served in the war to solidify further friendly relations with allied countries and focus on improving veteran diplomacy. Thus, the purpose of this study is to develop the blood alliances with allies of the Korean War into partnerships for future cooperation, while examining the appropriateness and implications of veteran diplomacy, which is a valuable diplomatic asset for improving the national status and image of the Republic of Korea, and also searching for future-oriented policy directions of future veteran diplomacy through policy diagnoses on projects being carried out for veteran diplomacy. First, in order to continue gratitude events for allied forces and veterans and to exalt their distinguished services, a paradigm shift in veteran diplomacy that continues onto the third generation is necessary. Second, as ways to honor the UN forces veterans, dedication of a list of veterans, finding distinguished services and increasing rewards, extended construction of digital archives for war records, and designation of distinguished veterans were proposed. Third, as plans for constructing the third-generation oriented systems based on war veterans, increased invitational events for descendents of veterans, preferential industrial training opportunities, and increased scholarship programs for descendents of veterans were proposed. Fourth, as plans for continuous international exchange and cooperation with allied countries, strengthening working-level policy sharing through international veteran workshops, operation of ally veteran offices and mutual work exchange programs, and support for international exchange and cooperation projects among allied countries were proposed. Fifth, in order to establish a policy pursuance basis for veteran diplomacy, plans to strengthen organizational tasks and capacities to pursue veteran diplomacy projects and expand denotation for target countries, target administrations and business fields of veteran diplomacy projects were presented.
