본 연구는 다문화가족의 정신건강 실천을 위해 정신보건 사회복지사의 문화적 역량 수 준을 탐색하고, 문화적 역량에 영향을 미치는 요인을 살펴보고자 하는데 그 목적이 있 다. 문화적 인식, 문화적 태도, 문화적 지식과 기술의 3개 하위개념으로 구성된 문화적 역량을 척도를 활용하여 경기, 전라, 충청 지역을 중심으로 병원, 정신건강센터, 알코올 상담센터, 사회복귀시설 등의 기관에서 근무하는 정신보건 사회복지사 215명의 자료를 분석하였다. 그 결과 총 5점 척도에서 평균이 각각 문화적 인식 3.80, 문화적 태도 3.65, 문화적 지식 및 기술 3.00 순으로 나타났다. 문화적 역량에 영향을 미치는 요인 을 알아보기 위해 회귀분석을 실시 한 결과 기관특성과 교육경험이 영향을 미치는 요인 으로 나타났다. 다문화관련 교육 경험이 있을 때 그렇지 않은 경우에 비해 문화적 역량 이 높음을 확인할 수 있었다. 특히 근무기관과 다문화 관련 교육경험은 문화적 역량에 유의미한 영향요인으로 확인 되었다. 따라서 정신보건 사회복지사들의 문화적 역량을 증진 시키기 위해서는 다문화 관련 교육 및 훈련 프로그램이 개발되어야 한다.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors influencing cultural competence of mental heath social worker. Based on the Korean cultural competence measure (‘cultural awareness,’ ‘cultural attitude,’ and ‘cultural knowledge and skill’) composed of 33 items, the study collected data from 215 mental heath social workers. The analysis of the survey data shows that the average level of mental heath social workers’ cultural competence is ‘cultural awareness’(3.80), ‘cultural attitude’(3.65), and ‘cultural knowledge and skill’(3.00) descending order. The result of hierar-chical regression analysis of the preceding factors affecting cultural competence is as follows：such organizational characteristics and ducation experience have effect on the cultural competence. Organizational characteristics and education experience has a direct effect on the cultural competence, showing significance of △ R² change. Finally this study suggests some ways to enhance cultural competence of mental heath social workers.
