The purpose of this study is to prove the educational effect of the group musical activities through the
Kodaly Teaching Method on the improvement of creativity and social skills of children. In this study, the
selected children are 61 seven-year-olds of D kindergarten in A city and 60 seven-year-olds of H
kindergarten whose parents agreed to participate in this study. The program of music activity was carried
from December 30th 2014 to February 28 2015, twice a week for eight weeks, so the total sessions is
16, one session is 30 minutes. Contents of the program was composed of singing, playing instruments,
improvisation, song writing, music, and body movements. And this study was conducted with the
researcher and the assistance of one secondary teacher.
As the result, first, the dis-stereotype/ identity, curiosity/adventurous spirit, diversity/sensitivity, sense of
humor except individuality showed the meaningful effect. Second, cooperation, perspective taking ability,
independence, interaction showed the meaningful effect. The results of this study suggest that group music
activities based on Kodaly Teaching Method is effective of development in creativity and social skills of
children.
