This study aims at exploring the developmental experience and supporting needs of persons
with developmental disability on school-aged. The focus-group interviews are taken for 3
groups of main carers of elementary, middle, and high school students who have developmental
disability. Total of 12participants on this study has joined. The results showed 9 main themes,
5 themes related to the developmental experience, 4 themes for the supporting needs.
Regarding the developmental experience, 'mocking, isolating, disavowal of the peer group',
'negative perception and attitudes of the teachers and systematic limitation', 'interest on
opposite sex and sexuality', 'academic stress', 'results of the integrated education'. In relation
to the supporting needs, 4themes are as follows. 'Improvement for the integrated education
system', 'diversification of the job training and education', 'quantitative improvement for the
service and program for the developmental disabled school students', 'parenting and education
information and counselling are needed according to the school-age', With these findings,
this study made some recommendations and suggestions for the policy and practice.
