This study examined the experience of Korean drama by fans among Uzbekistan
youth and explored the impact of Korean dramas to their everyday life through
qualitative research. To reach goal of this study following questions has been set up.
First, what does Uzbekistan youth think about Korea, its culture and what was the
meaning of it for them? Second, how does Korean dramas reflect the fan lives of
Uzbekistan youth? In this study, we interviewed nine Korean drama fans among
Uzbekistan youth and dates, which were collected through in-depth interviews, were
analysed by the case study research method. The in-depth interviews were
proceeding from July 04 to July 22 in 2016. The result of the study is as follows.
First, for Korean drama fans among Uzbekistan youth, Korean drama was
‘wonderful expression of love in beautiful scenery'. According to the in-depth
interviews, first, when the participants heard the word ‘Korea’ comes into their
mind beautiful sea and Jeju Island. Second, participants used to use the expression
‘natural beauty’ with the word Korea. Therefore, most Uzbekistan youth consider
Korea as one of the most developed country with it's modern technology,
high-context culture and hard-working nationality. In conclusion, it was confirmed
that Korean dramas had a great impact on lives of Uzbekistan youth.
