The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of adolescents’emotion problem on school
adjustment and also to verify the moderated mediating effect of positive parental attitude & life
satisfaction between adolescents’emotion problem and school adjustment. The study is based on data from
first wave of ‘Korean Child Youth Panel Survey 2010(KCYPS)’ and the subjects of this survey were 2,080
1st grade junior middle school students. To measure the variables, this study used such scales as the
Emotion Problem scale, Positive Parental Attitude scale, Life Satisfaction scale, and School Adjustment
scale. The data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0. The study results are as follows: First, there were
significant influence of the adolescents’emotion problem on school adjustment. Second, the mediating effect
of the life satisfaction between emotion problem and school adjustment was verified. Both the direct effect
of emotion problem on school adjustment and indirect effect of emotion problem through life satisfaction
on school adjustment were verified. Third, the moderating effect of positive parental attitude between
adolescents’emotion problem and life satisfaction was verified. But, the moderated mediating effect of life
satisfaction by positive parental attitude between adolescents’emotion problem and school adjustment was
not statistically significant. The implications for counseling and suggestions for future research are
discussed.
