Human beings are to be understood as the whole, including the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects. Given the recent trend of increased interest in spirituality, the purpose of this study is to suggest the future direction of the research by grasping the research trends of previous studies related to spirituality published in the social welfare academy. As a result of analysis of 101 previous studies, it was confirmed that the number of studies on spirituality announced in the social welfare academy is increasing. The purpose of the study is divided into the discussion of concept of spirituality, social worker dimension and spirituality, client dimension and spirituality. In the context of the social worker dimension, studies are being conducted to examine the various effects that spirituality may have on individuals and organizations of social workers. In relation to the level of the client, it is confirmed that there are studies actively investigating the correlation between spirituality and other variables. In previous studies, both literature review and quantitative research methods and qualitative research methods have been utilized. Among them, the research using quantitative research method was the most common, and the study using qualitative research method was found to be very small. Based on the results of this study, I suggested future research direction that is needed for the development of spirituality related research in social welfare.
