The purpose of this study was to explore ways to enhance group play therapy program by using traditional play
for parenting efficacy in co-parenting grandmothers. Participants of this study were twelve co-parenting grandmothers
between the ages of 55 – 65 living in Seoul. The program consisted of 8 sessions of group play therapy that used
traditional play. Twelve co-parenting grandmothers took part in this study, six participants were placed in the
experimental group and six in the control group. The data were analyzed by the SPSS 21.0 program, which applied
the Mann-Whiteney U test. The experimental group showed statistically significant enhancement in parenting efficacy
and reduction of parenting stress in comparison with the control group. The study concluded that group play therapy
program by using traditional play was effective in enhancing parenting efficacy of co-parenting grandmothers.
